Those settings do work for me, you do have something else in the scene to reflect, right?

The most basic, most excellent version I've found is this one: https://www.lakeworks.com/forums/mirror-reflection-shader-preset-t193.html

Check your render settings. Raytrace bounce settings needs to be 2 or more. I may be off on the name, but it's the number of times light is allowed to bounce before it "dies". Depending on what's nearby, you may need 4 or more bounces, which WILL increase render times.

thanks for checking the settings. I must be doing something wrong with the new 4.6 Daz I have a simple mirror and V4 standing in front of the mirror and lights on her from all points so I have her well lite so there is something to reflect. but no go. It might have something to to with raytrace bounce that Slimer_j_Spud was talking about but were the heck are those setting at . are you talking about in the render setting in the advanced part I have Motion blur checked and motion samples set to 4 and nothing works. Im lost here I guess. I added the screen shot of what I am working on so you can see

Yes, it's in Advanced Render Settings. The correct name is Max Ray Trace Depth. See:

Ok guys got it working. thanks all for the help don't know what I did but went to the advance settings in render and hit the default setting and then did a render and it worked ok . the first one was with a mirror that I found here and got and the other one is just a plane that I tried it on and it worked. now I want to try and see if I can get a floor to reflect the same way so I can have her laying on the floor. will see.

thanks guys a life saver and also some hair that don't have a lot of anyway .

OK, now see if you can get the mirror to do this (LOL).

There's a free shiny floor prop around somewhere, but I can't put my finger on it at the moment. A floor will generally not be a perfect mirror. You want the diffuse texture of the floor to be visible, and a less perfect mirror reflection.

For a shiny floor (assuming the floor has a texture), leave the settings as they are, but set Reflection Strength to around 30% (with no map).

The floor in this image was set to 50%

Edit - You can also experiment with the floor's reflection. If you add a faint 'cloud' texture to either Diffuse Strength or Bump (with very low settings), you'll get a 'wavy' shine.

OK found the free floor prop That you were talking about I think. It is over at "renderosity " and is in the I13 Ironmans free stuff "*shiny* BOLD Old Tile Floor for Poser/Daz" a nice floor to use . so if anyone wants a good floor there it is.

Yes, that's the one. We can post freebie links here:
