I dial in a V4 clone on Genesis 3 after changing scene identification on the clothes and baking arm leg rotations to fit it to 3,
convert the clothes to obj import into poser and use the fitting room
bonus they work in DAZ studio and Carrara too in spite of the new weightmapping as conformed to a legacy figure
HI WendyLuvsCatz
Can you tell me where to find the V4 clone?

I made one using Genx and morphloader
there is a thread somewhere on how to do it, you can just use genesis 1 as an intermediatory too as Gen8 has a clone for that
HI WendyLuvsCatz
Is Genx a character or utility?
Do you know of a tutorial to do this ?
I've been away from V4 for so long any help is truly appreciated.

here is a thread, you don't need GenX I just use it as I have it and can go from genesis 8 to 3 easier with the clothes
edited my reply as forgot some steps
HI WendyLuvsCatz
I have "Genesis Generation X2"
Do you think that would work?
I'm off to watch the video.
I appreciate your help.

you just need to get the clothes the same shape as V4
dialing in clones found under hidden are the easiest way to do that
there is a product by Sickleyield for V4 clothes on G8 too I don't have that would have a hidden clone

you are basically using it in reverse
I was looking for something similar and was wondering if the above method would work for A3, also what version of Poser do you need?
well any version of Poser theoretically as you are just importing and obj, it just depends which one you are most familiar with
I cannot use the setup room in Poser7 for example but ssomeone who could can use that and do legacy rigging
Poser11 I have is fairly easy using the fitting room
Well if your just re-rigging the item for a different figure then couldn't you just use DS, or is there something special about the Poser route?
just easier for me who cannot do legacy rigging in DAZ studio
You can do it there if you know how
I have dabbled in it with the Content tools but its a lot of work
Question ... Are clones really needed and why? What's the benefit?
I still use generation 4 figures and basically just do an animated drape on any clothing from primarily any figure. So how would cloning v4/m4 etc improve my workflow?
If memory serves correctly, the SY clones will not help you make clothing for V4. They were made to fit V4's clothing to G8.
How would using clones help your workflow, -- I would suggest looking for V4/M4 "shapes" for whichever Genesis model you want to use - if you're wanting the V4/M4 type figures "modernized" ... honestly, it is a LOT easier to make clothing for any of the Genesis figures than it is for the legacy figures.
From what I understand Wendy uses the V4 clone as an actual "V4 shape" morph on G3 or G8, not as an autofit clone (that will require at least un-hiding the clone morph so that you can apply it to the figure).
The idea is to create a morphed version of the clothes sized for V4: if you set the morph to "auto follow" then when you apply it to the figure the clothes will morph accordingly. Then you can export that morphed version as obj and use that obj as the base to rig it for V4.
In your case having a "V4 shape morph" in the clothes might give you a better starting point for your drape.
also it needs to be welded, most Dforce clothing is though.
It really depends where you intend using V4 wearing it, in DAZ studio or Poser.
In DAZ studio why use V4? there are legacy shapes and geograft UVs
Well for me at least the answer's simple. There's no replacing Aiko3
, as of yet, and DAZ certainly isn't trying very hard to convince me otherwise, and I'm fine with that. ![smiley smiley](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/regular_smile.png)

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. It's certainly a nice try though.
There's also this: https://www.daz3d.com/gen-3-iconic-shapes-for-genesis
And it is possible to work the morphs up through the characters if you really want it on G8 - it's a lot of work though. I seem to recall there are some more products in the store for legacy figures, or their skins or their auto-fit clones for the other Genesis* figures.
lol I really de-railed this thread. Sorry.
This is probably not the best place to discuss my thoughts on DAZ's flagship figures.
Here is Genesis 1 with an Akio 3 morph wearing Complicated EVE an outfit originally designed Vicky 4. It is possible to transfer any clothing item to any figure using only commands in DAZ studio. You need to know what commands (and there's a lot of them), what order, and it's complicated and above all not for the faint of heart.
