Dopey Reality question...

I know that Reality (with LuxRender) can make amazing realistic renders, but can I use Reality to render toon images as well?
I found a bug in pwToon with DS and I'm trying to find some way to get around it. As an alternate renderer, might I have any success with Reality?
Thanks in advance for any help.

The shaders for PWToon wont translate to Realty (and ultimately out to LuxRender) so be prepared for some tweaking, and while Reality is suited to allow (arguably) more photo-realistic rendering I personally have not seen a render stylized to be cartoon-like.
Off the top of my head I would either try to:
A) Work out the PWToon issue,
B) Render in 3Delight and try a 2D plugin for Photoshop or Gimp or some other app that stylizes for cartoons
C) take a look at Casuals exporter from Daz Studio to Blender using Cycles which appears to me a much more capable of a stylized result and it's free in the freebies forum.
with this It helps to be somewhat comfortable in navigating around Blender which is quite different than Studio
Short answer,,,no.
The reasons that Strat outlined are just the tip of the problems. The basic idea behind Luxrender is what is going to make it more difficult to impossible to do a 'toon' render. It is designed to render 'real world' conditions using formulas that accurately describe 'real world' lights and surfaces...in other words, it's more than just shaders. It's not just a 'physically plausible' renderer...it's 'physically accurate'. Things that are difficult to do in 3Delight...full GI, color bleeding, caustics are all done 'by default' in Luxrender...you have the materials set up right, the calculations will be done to give the effects...heck, even not setting them up right Reality is likely to 'guesstimate' them well enough to be 'in the ballpark' of the 'Real World'.
3Delight still has its uses, even with Reality.
