PostgreSQL Error

Hi, I get the attached error each time I load Studio. It has never concerned me asit doesn't seem to effect my usage. That is until I downloaded RSSY clothing convereter V4 to G8F and it said "Smart Content" needed to be installed. It seems "Smart Contect" uses PostgreSQL CMS.
My question is, what application to I allow through my firewall. I have PostgreSQL CMS in the Daz folder were it was installed, but there are heaps of "application" files. I have tried "postgres" and "psql" in the bin folder to no effect.
Can anyone assist please.

Can you see what your firewall is blocking when you start Daz Studio or Daz central/Install Manager?
Thanks Richard. I don't see any message from the Norton 360 about anything being blocked. I use the latest update of Daz install manager and have never had any issues in the many years of using it. I did, ages ago, download Daz Central, but never used it because DIM works fine. I have uninstalled Postgre and re-installed (using DIM) and still get the same error message.
I use Norton (not 360, though I can't recall what falvour it is) and have no issue so that is odd. It doesn't have to be the firewall, there can be other isues 9such as folder permissions) that seem able to trigger the issue. Do Postfresql processes actually start when you launch DS? Check Task Manager - you will need to turn on More details, then scroll down past the list of applications to the list of background processes.
This is really odd. No PostgreSQL in the task manager, A search of start up applications in settings doesn't list it as an option. I started DIM with the task manager open and it didn't access/open PostgreSQL but logged into my account and showed available downloads and updates. It did show DIM as an application while in use.
Which version of PostgreSQL do you have installed?
My version is 9.3.4. I did an internet search and the most recent version is 14.1 I downloaded it and used their install manager with defaults. It installs at Program Files > PostgreSQL > 14. The path to the Daz version is Program Files > Daz 3D > PostgreSQL CMS
How do I upgrade the one for Daz 3D? Or should I install 14.1 in the Daz 3D folder?
I meant which package from the installer - if you are using Install manager there may, depending on filter settings, be four of them to choose from (plus the Valentina to PostgreSQL converter, if that is still live). I'm not sure that installing the stand-alone version of PostgreSQL won't add to the confusion.
PostgreSQL CMS (Win 64-bit) when given the option between 32 and 64 I choose to install a 64 bit version. I searched my product library and re-installed it (after uninstalling through the DIM) I also uninstalled the stand alone version just to be safe.
Ready to install I have:
PostgreSQL CMS (win32-bit)
PostgreSQL CMS for Valentina CMS Conversion
PostgreeSQL CMS (Win 64-bit) Public build +Beta+
In Ready to Download I have:
PostgreSQL CMS (Win 32-bit) Public build +Beta+
PostgreSQL CMS From Valentina CMS Conversion Public Build +Beta+
Is there some sort of configuration I should be doing. When I start DIM it asks for username (email address) and DAZ password to log in. Studio never asks this I also don't store anything on a cloud service, DAZ or otherwise.
The product page for PostgreSQL CMS says "To help get you up and running with the new PostgreSQL service, we’ve added a separate package in Install Manager that will automatically migrate any existing data from your Valentina CMS database; you simply install it after the PostgreSQL CMS is installed. The amount of time required to migrate the data will vary depending on the amount of data you have and your system specs. *Note: While the PostgreSQL CMS is installed, Install Manager will not install any data to the Valentina CMS database." I have never migrated anything. I have pointed DIM to my external drive and a folder where I download DAZ or Poser content. I then use DIM to install, but keep a copy of the ZIP file and DIM configured file on my external drive. I have never used "smart content" it would probably be useful as I have downloaded far in excess of 2000 files with DIM and that doesn't include Daz stuff prior or from other web sites. I just go hunting if I know I have a product but don't know what library it's in.
Could this be part of the problem?
The Valentina database was used in the first releases of DS, it hasn't been the default installation for a long time and unless you have an older system and hadn't updated for ages it is very unlikely that you have any Valentina database to need converting.
Does PostgreSQL fire up when you run Install Manager?
Thanks for all you assistance Richard. No, PostgreSQL doesn't start when I open/start DIM as per a previous post. I'll chalk this up to another purchase my system wont run. Thanks for the time you have spent on this.
It isn't the programme you need to let through the firewall it is the Internal Port that it uses. The port number can be found in the menu Edit/Preferences/CMS Settings.
Thank you fishtales. I think I have discovered an issue with my install. I was reading an older forum on the same issue and Richard made the comment that the port in cmscfg.json in C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\cms\ContentCluster should be the same as in menu Edit/Preferences/CMS Settings. My issue is, the directory/folder structure is there, but there in no cmscfg.json only a folder \ContentCluster and this is also empty. In total under DAZ 3D there are 6 folders and 3 files.
\DAZ 3D\cms\ContentCluster
\DAZ 3D\Studio4\RunOnce\MetaData
\DAZ 3D\Studio4\RunOnce\RunFirst
That .json file might be generated when Postgres actually runs and loads. I don't know.
Situation sorted, a very large thank you to both Richard and Fishtales. Between the two of you and your input I was able to diagnose the issue. I am no tech guy so I have no hair left and I have no idea why my computer file structure is as it is, but I have C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming and also C:\Users\me.000\AppData\Roaming.
I opened cmscfg.json in C:\Users\me.000\AppData\Roaming and it was the right port but pointing at C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming etc. so I added ".000" after my computer name and saved and open Daz and it asked for my username\email and password and is now loading metadata.
Good. I'm glad you got it sorted. Happy to help :)
Just want to say, in 2022 this is EXACTLY the issue I was having and I had been troubleshooting on/off trying to resolve this for months. Thank you thank you thank you!
