Hey everyone...ultimate NOOb here...is there a way to do front projection mapping onto a plane to catch shadows in DAZ? I can't seem to find anything on it. Or is there another way to go about catching shadows (I'm using HDRIs to light my scenes.)
THANX, Jim

    How are you loading them...

If what you are using (let's say UberEnvironment 2) isn't in a shadow casting mode, then there's nothing to 'catch'.

I merged the threads to keep the information in the same thread. Please do not split up thread on the same topic. What you can do is edit the title of the thread to say you can't get the shadow catcher to work in an hdri scene.

Sorry about that. ..yes I'm using uber environment 2. Is there another way to do HDRI lighting?

HDRI will cast shadows fine, but you must remember to select ambient *with directional shadows*. Typically HDRI do not cast very strong shadows, they are mostly used for ambient light. To get a shadow add a distant light from the same direction as the sun in the HDRI.

The other thing to check is that the HDRI map is either a TIFF (best) or a real HDRI file. I've seen some people trying to use jpeg. Jpeg are by definition not High Dynamic range, hence the reason for using TIFF and HDRI. Turn the intensity up also, and find a map with strong directional light. It does work I've tried it, but putting an distant light in will always create a stronger shadow effect.

Thanks so much for the response! OK so you're saying Shadowcatcher will work with HDRI. I just need to remember to select ambient *with directional shadows*? k I'll try it.

still isnt working. I dont see 'Ambient with directional shadows' I see occlusion with directional shadows' Is that what you're talking about?

here's what it looks like if I add a directional light. If I add no lights there's no shadow at all.
