Character won't accept/hold poses
I can't get my characters to pose. I have them selected, and the poses are made for them (this one is Genesis 8) but when I try to apply the pose, I get some bizarre output like this. He was supposed to be standing with his arms crossed on his chest.
I'm actually going to use Blender to create animations (which, if I understand correctly, it will allow me to do) so I don't know how important it is to have these poses mastered in DAZ. I just WANT them to work and am frustrated that they're not working. Plus maybe I'll be using the same poseing software in Blender? Anyway, does anyone have a theory about what I'm doing wrong?
This Genesis 8 character had another character put onto it, just so you know. Could that be the problem? But then, if you can't pose at all with these new characters, what would be the point of buying them?

That is a Vyusur figure, which is not Genesis 8. It's an original, standalone figure the PA created. Since I didn't buy it--for exactly this reason--I don't know how compatible it is with Genesis 8 assets.
I'm guessing not very.
But the title of the character is "Kio HD and Hair for Genesis 8 Male". What would make that not compatible with Genesis 8 Male?
I did an experiment. The character will pose just fine naked. But when I put on Cyber Man clothes, he won't pose. Cyber Man is supposed to be for Genesis 8. Any theories as to why this ibit of wardrobe won't pose for me?

Hmm, I was under the impression that PA mainly did original characters, since they were on the forum recently rueing that nobody made products for them.
Can you pose the limbs manually? If not, is there a little padlock icon in the properties pane?
What exactly do you mean by that?
The reference to "Kio HD and Hair for Genesis 8 Male" implies it's not a base G8M, no?
Okay. Here's where my stupidity is going to come out in flashes of bright light. I thought you had to installl the base character first, such as Genesis 8, and then select it and install the character tht was made for it, on top of it. Is this not true?
No. You install the base Genesis 8 and the character separately. Installing the character will create a morph slider for the base Genesis 8 in the properties pane. When you slide the morph up to 1.0, that character will be fully dialed in.
