...so conveted Sue 8 to G3F. Went back to apply her base skin mat from the G8 and got an error mesage to check the logfile
Here is what the logfile says:

From what I gather the both G3 and G8 share the same UV structureso there should be no error in applying a G8 skin to a G3 character and vice versa.. I checked the product page and there is no mention of preset hierarchical materials at all.

It's most likely using hierarchical presets because it applies materials to the figure, eyelashes and maybe her custom eyebrows at the same time.
You'll have to save separate materials for each part if you want to use it on another figure.

Try Loading the Dev version.
...the interesting part is there are separate loads for the skin lashes and brows, yet I still get the error.
