Why am I getting this and how do I resolve it? Thank you

  • This usually means you have two different characters that use the same name for the properties, with the result that the links can clash (e.g. if there were two JaneDoe characters, each with a JaneDoe slider that set a JaneDoehead and a JaneDoebody slider, then you would have three pairs of clashing links - formulas). There are other ways it can happen with a single character, but that would give an error for everyone and so would be caught in testing while the cofnlciting names will give an error only if both characters are installed.

If you go to Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File and search through for duplicate you should find the line(s) reproting the issue, which will tell you one of the products involved and the name that is causing the conflict - assuming it is a matter of two different products clashing having the name should let you identify the other party and you can then report both to their makers (or Daz Support if they are sold here).

I find the duplicate error There are so many lines. How would I know which one is causing the error message. Or are all of  them doing so?

    Here are two examples:
    "Duplicate formula found linking yOrigin & BC Head - owner: Genesis8_1Female - output: pelvis:/data/DAZ%203D/Genesis%208/Female%208_1/Genesis8_1Female.dsf#pelvis?center_point/y - input: Genesis8_1Female:/Scenes/Alianora.duf#BC%20Head?value".

    "Duplicate formula found linking xEnd & BC Head - owner: Genesis8_1Female - output: lSmallToe4:/data/DAZ%203D/Genesis%208/Female%208_1/Genesis8_1Female.dsf#lSmallToe4?end_point/x - input: Genesis8_1Female:/Scenes/Alianora.duf#BC%20Head?value".

They are all found /DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/Scenes/Alianora.duf. The charachter in question is Noska 8.1. I don't know why this have happened because I've used the scene before without any problem. I have downloaded more add-ons since I made the scene, but how would I go about finding what is causing the duplicate error?

  • So this happens with the scene but not with the base figure? That does suggest that there is an issue in the scene data - did you do anything with ERC Freeze in that scene?

When I start up Daz I don't get the error. When I load up any charachter, even base G8 I get the error message. So even the duplicate messages appear to be linked to the scene according to the logs, when I look at them. I still get the error even tho I'm not using the scene or anything related to the scene. I'm sorry but I don't know what ERC Freeze is my friend. Just keep fishing information from me and I'll keep on providing it as best as I can!

It sounds like you have saved a character as an asset instead of preset
