Question about Install manager

I bought a tool that can only be installed with install manager. I have never used install manager because I manually install all my content. My question is this, if I download and install install manager, will that mess up my runtime? and will it mean that I must use install manager from now on?

Choppski,
Hello. I let the DAZ Install Manager (DIM) download and install all of the content that it can but I also manually download and save every item that I purchase. This allows me to manually reinstall a DIM-installed item in the rare case that I need to do so or if there is documentation in the item's zip file that I want to retrieve.
If your only option for the tool that you purchased is to use DIM, once you install DIM you can uncheck the Install After Download option if it is checked; see first screen capture. When you install DIM, one of the items that you will be asked about during the installation process is where the package archive location is to be located; see the second screen capture. You can accept the default location or change it to another storage location. You can also modify that location at any time after installation via the Advanced Settings window; see the third screen capture.
Once DIM has downloaded but not installed your item, you can then navigate to the package archive location and do whatever you wish with the zipped file such as manually install it or move it to another location.

OK, wow, thanks for that detailed explanation. But does install manager allow me to use my current library on an external drive?
Install Mananger will not touch your existing content or content directory settings.
Yes. You can configure your install locations via the Advanced Settings window. I have Daz Studio, Poser, an other similar software installed on my local hard drive but all of my purchased and free content is installed on an external hard drive.
The WP Guru (Jay Versluis) has posted many You Tube videos about using DAZ Studio. In a recent one, he demonstrates how to install DAZ Studio with Install Manager. The pertinent parts of that video that deal specifically to setting up DIM can be found in two sections of the 16 minute video - between time marks 3:15 - 4:55 and between 9:50 - 12:44. The video is at .
Thank you!
