Add texture to a primitive

I found an earlier article that explained how to add a text to a primite -- select the surface of the primitive, go to the surfaces tab, select the editor tab, then click the arrow next to diffuse color and choose browse.  But there is no diffuse color option.  I have v4.15.0.30 Pro edition 64 bit.  Is there another way to accomplish this?

I've attached a screent shot of what I do see on the editor tab.

    In looking at your screenshot, you are not using Iray Uber shaders. Is that planned? If not, then you can go to the Presets,, select Shaders, select Iray, and then apply the Iray Uber Base shader. Then when you go back to editor you should have the proper options for applying textures.

  • Brose will only take you to the folder of the texture used. If you do not like that texture or other options in this folder then as above use shaders. pick the pick surface tool, click a surface. have smart content tab open. look for shaders or shader presets. double click  to apply a shader. some shader packs come with scaling options. exmple: 1:2 Click these to scale texture to your licking. the surface tab there are many option to furture tweek the shader includding shifting the textute horz. and vet. on surface.

    keep in mind that not all primiives are UVmapped and of the ones that are, it you change any of the scaling, you may also need to change the tiling options to keep the texture from getting warped.
