Ghostly Faythe for Genesis 8 female

https://www.daz3d.com/ghostly-faythe-for-genesis-8-female

Faythe puts the spirit in Holiday Spirits.

This beautiful apparition will haunt your dreams with visions of the world to come.

This set uses some fun Iray effects to create a ghostly luminosity to the character without actually emitting light. Her limbs face out into a ghostly mist that includes presets to change their colors.

For added effect, you can either use the geografted ghost tail, or her regular legs, both with fade effects.

The High Definition morphs and High-Quality textures will really bring this character to life for your renders.

Wouldn't it have been better to use a ghost shader that shows mesh overlap less drastically?

That is a very... awkward arm position. How does she do it without breaking any bones?

She is a ghost...she has no bones

  • I had to think for a moment why she would seen as breaking an arm... if you look at it a certain way it almost looks like the forearm is behind her bicep instead of infront of it, but it's more of an optical illusion because of light and shadow and opacity. honestly making a good fade out texture is a tricky thing to do without it looking weird from other angles, it looks well done here, and i like the leg options too.

Great job on the SSS; it actually looks like real SSS.

    Great character.

Is there a 'proper' one for Iray that's able to hide the internal surfaces from showing through?

For a character like this you have to balance the how translucent or opaque you want the final render to be. If you hide too much, you lose the ghost effect. So after alot of experimentations I did what I felt gave the best results. Other may have their own opinions and likes to that end.

The alternatives generally mitigate the effect by blurring it enough to not be so obvious.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't critisizing the result, but still looking for a Iray shader, where you could specify one side to be invisible while the other side could be opaque or translucent.

So far the only way to accomplish a 'proper' ghost character (that I know of), has been rendering the ghost separately and adding the translucency effect in post.
