Scene subset won't display when loaded

I have some models that are saved from the Daz Studio 3d artist (original downloads) as scene subsets, rather than as a character. I have tried countless times to open them as an original character or add them to the scene. By all indications Daz Studio loads them, yet I can't see them in the viewport, then Daz Studio starts acting crazy and locks up and I have to close the program. These are packaged products I actually paid money for to Daz Studio for the download. I'm currently running 4.16.0.3 64 bit on a Windows PC.
Somebody will probably tell me what I am doing wrong. Hopefully it's a simple fix.

did you see the subset name in the scene tab after loaded? Do you have enough video memory?
sometimes it loaded to 0,0,0, and your current scene is not at 0,0,0.
try push ALT and drag the subset into the scene rathan than just double click it.
These sound like some of the products that where added when DAZ aquired the RDNA site. Many of their products where improperly packaged (some so badly they where dropped from the store) so you would need to contact DAZ support about them.
I followed function's suggestion to use the ALT key and drag the model into the scene. Something appears when I do that - a yellow ring with a red circle inside of the ring? Defective product? The Scene tab shows the model has been loaded into the scene. And Daz Studio locks up and won't allow me to do anything. I have to close the program.
yes, that yellow ring with a red circle shows the position for your subset to be loaded. Now the DAZ Studio stop working, which means either your machine is overloaded (memory or GPU memory not big enough) or the DAZ software / subset has problem, by the way, it should be 'locked' for a while, you may stay for minutes. Try other subsets or drag a new figure say G8 male into your scene.
Or if you can successful load the subset into an blank scene, that means mostly the problem of memory.
Still a newbie here with Daz Studio, although I have have been working with it for several years (Victoria 4, years ago!). I think the scene subset doesn't include the complete character, which I thought it did. I did a little digging online and it looks like the character is a download/purchase under a different name than the product I purchased. Anyway I think that's the Daz Studio problem. It's trying to load data that isn't in the PC.
Usually Scene Subsets do not include the actual model, but only references to it (if done 'right'), then the user should either have the used assets/base model already in their system, or those assets/base model should have been included with the purchase to be installed before the Scene Subset can be successfully opened.
If the Scene Subset is missing assets/base model that it needs, you should get a notice for the missing files and they would be recorded into DS log (Help->Troubleshooting->View Log File)
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've never seen Daz Studio lock up when opening a .duf file. The image attached is from a third party vendor. Daz Studio does a complete load of the subset scene, nothing appears and I don't get any messages that something is missing. The complete information is loaded into the Scene tab, yet when I try to get Daz Studio to do anything, it's unresponsive (locked up). I have no choice but to close the program. I have other scenes/models I can open that are labeled as Character. This is the first time I have tried to open a file that is labeled as Scene Subset.
Ok, that helps.
What kind of computer do you have? how much RAM (system memory) and what graphics (GPU) does it have?
Do you know, if that scene subset should be the character with the clothing and hair, or just the naked character?
It is possible that what is saved in the subset, is just too heavy for your computer - Insane levels of SubD and/or poorly made clothing and hair combined with insane levels of SubD...
I wouldn't know specifics about the scene subset and what was put in the scene before it was saved. I just know that I bought and downloaded from a third party vendor and it was designed for Daz Studio 4.10 or higher (I have 4.16).
That doesn't show what graphics adapter (GPU) you have, but the 8GB memory may be too little for what's saved in the scene subset, especially if you haven't increased the size of your virtual memory.
If your computer is using virtual memory (=a file on your harddrive/SSD) due to having too little real memory, the opening process would indeed be very slow (half an hour to few hours would be no surprice)
When you get the scene subset to open, the first thing to do, is to go and select the Genesis 8 in the Scene Tab then go to the Parameters Tab and find the values for SubD (I think under General->Mesh Smoothing) and set both values to 1
Did you computer get back to being responsive?
I started looking at the File targets for that particular character and I don't think it installed correctly to Daz Studio files. I'm thinking there were multiple copies of things in the wrong locations and it was fouling things up. Some of the characters I have haven't been a problem at all. I'm having to go through the Daz Studio folders and delete items that weren't where they belonged. I will post back when this is resolved.
Leaves me scratching my head. I got all the files cleaned up and straightened out. I've got all the files for this particular character (name is Kitten) loaded into My Daz 3D Library. Everything shows up in the content library. I can actually apply various elements that came in the Kitten package to other G8 models. But when I try to load the Kitten scene subset into Daz Studio it locks up. I wish I knew how to extract the Kitten character from the scene subset but that's above my pay grade hahaha.
