While I'm frustrated by shaders, there are reasons many people will want to use 3delight. I mean, I'm really enjoying Iray, but I still plan on using 3Delight for a bunch of stuff.

A lot of shaders still work tolerably well in Iray, and can serve as a launching point. I've done a bunch of renders with no shader changes, and they still look cool. The only shaders that just don't work are funky things like PW Effect.

That's because they aren't shaders...they are presets for existing shaders, which happen to get autoconverted (like the base DS shaders)

    PWToon IS a shader...and it doesn't convert.

Okay, so back to the original post... :cheese:

It is not difficult to get interesting and even appealing results with iray.

But nothing worth doing is all THAT simple. It will probably require many weeks to get truly amazing results with iray.

I can only speak for myself on this...but I've decided to stop whining about any perceived difficulties and get started. :smirk:

It's another tool so why not learn it? And it's free, so why not learn it?

By the way, I've decided to use lowercase "i" so nobody thinks it's a lowercase "L".
