Does anyone know what's used for the magic in the promos? It looks fantastic!

    Postwork, probably some brushes.

    Photoshop brushes, could even be Ron Deveney's brushes from the DS store.

    Looks a bit like a watersplash-brush to me... Ron (Deviney) has some great brushes and they always come with effects too... If you don't want to spend Money for them, try searching DeviantArt for free brushes, they have tons of them.

    Ah! Looking closer, I see the magic isn't wrapping around the arms like I was thinking it did. There's the clue I was missing!
