Problem categorizing

So I’m finally trying to organize my content and am having a problem. When I create a category for an entire product ie: G8 Clothes/Retro and add a full product, it works fine and the category shows up. But when I try to categorize individual items ie: Accessories G8/Hats the new categories don’t show up anywhere. I see the categories when I try to categorize a new item but those categories appear greyed out and when I think I’m adding new items, the categories and items don’t show up anywhere. What am I doing wrong?

EXACTLY the same problem I've been having and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it either :'(.

  • Could you give a step-by-step of what you are doing here when it fails.

I right click on an individual item in the content directory like a hat. I click categorize. It goes to a menu. I click on it and create a new sub folder like G8 accessories. Then I create a sub folder for that like hats. Then I click on the new hats folder and click accept. But the whole folder doesn’t show up anywhere that I can find. But  ategories for full products do show up. I can’t categorize individual items.

Actually the categories do show up in the content pane but are empty. They are not in the smart content pane at all.

Do you click the checkbox next to the new category? That is what actually selects it as the target for the item(s).

Oh that works, thanks! It takes forever to populate with even just one item, but it finally works.

I don't have time right now to check and see if this solves my problem, but if it works, I owe you a beer. LOL
