Any way to use Genesis 8 eyes on a Genesis 8.1?

My library contains a great Genesis 8 eyes set that I would love to use on my Genesis 8.1 figures (Nutcracker, I am looking at you), however, the eyes look awful when the Genesis 8 material is applied.

Is there any way to use Genesis 8 eyes on a Genesis 8.1 figure, so that I can then use the Genesis 8 set, please?

One reason i moved to 8.1 only, is the eyes; they are far superior to 8.0.

If you want to use the textures, you could manually convert them - at least in part.

Well, I have too many awesome Genesis 8 figures to abandon them. Some have become important characters in my own fictional world. I cannot simply throw them away.

As for manually converting any textures, well, that sounds a bit like rocket science to me, I am afraid.

They look "awful" in what way?

I use G8.0 eyes on G8.1 characters all the time, it looks just fine.

I don't have that particular product though.

@watchdog79 I guess you have to directly replace the eye texture maps of your figure with those in the set you mentioned, then tweak the eye materials to your liking. PBR eyes and Iray Uber eyes look very different even with the same texture maps. If you have PBR skin and Iray Uber eyes together it might look very wrong.

G8.1 has new uvs but also the old G8 uvs and the exact same geometry as G8. G8 eye textures should look exactly the same on G8.1. No conversion needed, manual or otherwise. If it is looking weird I guess check and make sure the eyes are using g8 uvs

     See attachments, please.

The eyes of a G8M look as intended.

The eyes of a G8.1M look awful, definitely not the same as the ones of the G8M.

select your G8.0 with the eyes applied, go to the surface tab, select any of the eye surfaces (eg Iris):

What does it say under "UV Set"?

Now select your G8.1, go to the surface tab, select all eye surfaces (Corona, Eye Moisture, Iris, Pupils, Sclera)

What does it now say under "UV Set"? If it's not the same as with your G8.0, click the menu and change it to what it should be.

    Did this help?

It did help. Yay! Thank you very much.

Anything more advanced in Daz Studio really feels like rocket science to me. I lack any basic education in the terminology or in the principles how all these things like UV, PBR, etc. actually work. Or what they even are. blush

    Glad it worked.

In the future, protect yourself from UV with sunscreen. cheeky
