Possible to disable the white flash that occurs between renders?

I often like to try different textures and shader settings but it triggers a white flash between renders which messes with me a little bit when I am trying to look closely to compare to the previous render.  Is there a way to have it hold the previous frame and then the new frame will just start rendering without clearing the screen to that white flash?  Thank you for any help!

    You could push [CNTRL + L] and make it a black flash instead.  Otherwise, no.
