Hi!

Someone knows how to do a SubD preset? .__.

You mean an action to convert an item to SubD? Or do you just want to toggle an already SubD item for base to high resolution and vice versa?

Not to hijack a thread, 'cause I was thinking of asking the same question...but, both, Richard, please?

The second option please! Presets to go from subdivision to base.

I think this hair has what I`m trying to do...

I was going to say use a Properties preset, but that doesn't appear to give access to the Mesh Resolution. I don't think a preset could apply SubD to an un-SubDed figure

But I mean an already subdivided item. Like a preset to switch between Genesis` base and high resolution. I thought something like that is what the hair on the link does.

The way I read the description on that hair product, I assume it has two .duf files, one that loads 'as is' and the other that loads with subdivision already turned on. Not that it has presets to switch back and forth. I suppose looking at the file list in the documentation wiki might shed some light on what it includes.

It sounds like what you want is really a script though, that could then be registered as a custom action to put on a toolbar to make it quick to turn subd on or off for a selected object. As a script, it would also be able to apply subd to a non-subd' object. However, I don't think Studio has the ability to remove subd once its been applied (other than to set it back to base resolution).

    Thanks!

I decided it would be better to just leave it as is. I thought there was an option to save a preset, but seems there isn`t, so...

As .duf files are just text, you might be able to get a single parameter preset with a little hand editing. Save a preset, open the .duf in a text editor and then strip out everything by the resolution setting entry. You could make one for base and one for high. I assume Studio will 'do the right thing' and leave everything but the explicitly mentioned parameters alone when you click the .duf with an object selected.

(Or is there a way to select what parameters you want Studio to write when you save the preset in the first place? I've never done much with saving presets, so don't know if there is a trick to this.)

It does let you select what parameters you want. But SubD is missing in the available options.

Thanks for the suggestion! i might try it!
