BUG - DAZ4.8 Iray Automatically switch from GPU to CPU

Well since everyone tends to ignore my post in the main thread then I will open a new one.

Does anyone have the same problem?

When I was rendering an interior scene with one emitter, the CPU option for both render mode is switched off,
The renderer keeps pushing everything into the CPU instead of my GPU even when I deselect the CPU mode.

The GPU loads, starts rendering, and after 3-4s it quits and the render switches to CPU mode. (No error message)

It only happens when you have two more GPUs and the one for the monitor is deselected for the render.
When I select all three GPUs, it comes back to normal and no more automatic switching.

Anyone has any idea what is going on?

I got 3 titan black with no SLI i7 and 32G Ram

Sounds like a bug. I would send a bug report because this is beta software. I think most people are running 1 maybe 2 nvidia cards and nothing like titans. I have a geforce 780 6g video ram for renders and a geforce 640gt running my monitors and view ports. I also have an i7 6core and 64 gigs of ram. Your system sounds like an Octane setup. Octane runs faster than Iray but the Daz studio plugin is also just beta. I'm hoping Daz makes Iray work better than Octane and that they add it to Carrara Pro.

I had a similar issue, but not exactly the same. I was working on a scene and rendering with 2 GPUs (GTX 770 and 780, 770 used for system graphics too) with the CPU unchecked, but sometimes if I made a change to the shader the next time I would try to render (photoreal or interactive) the program would switch to CPU render with no warning or notification and even if the two GPUs were still checked in the settings. I had to restart DAZ to fix the problem. The kind of changes I am talking about are changing blend mode and setting bump strength to 0, nothing like adding textures that could possibly push the capacity of the VRAM or anything like that... I am thinking it is a bug and will probably report it.

Oh not that you just said I remember I have the same issue but worse as well lol it just keeps switching and I can't really find the source of the problem...

Yeah I just sent one, waiting for their replies (if there is any) and yeah this set is fully built for octane XD
Octane and Iray got similar exterior render time but iray takes so much longer in interior (I'm not sure why) and well the beta is already impressive I have to say, can't ask for more XD

If your interior scenes have surfaces that have SSS that maybe why? Interior should not make a difference?

    Greetings,
Are you trying to render an interior scene with Dome+Scene lighting selected? Not sure if it'll affect anything, but in theory Dome+Scene lighting means it's trying to account for the sun/sky environment as well as your scene lights, so I'd imagine it would be slower.

Just a random guess, firing off into the forum like a photon from a light source, bouncing around... :)
