Any way to find items I own and aren't installed?

The disapearance of DAZ-deals is a massive pain.

Among other things, I used it to look for specific items I owned but weren't installed (most of my assets aren't). For instance, I'm now looking for a sword that comes with a scabbard. I know that I own one such asset, but I've no clue what is name is, how old it is, etc... So, with DAZ-deals I would select "weapons" and "only show owned" in the shop and could go through the small list of weapons I own and find the one with a scabbard relatively easily. Same, with, say, looking for a water effect, or hair for G3F or whatever.

But without DAZ-Deals, I've no idea how to find anything. In DAZ install or DAZ central, I'd have to go through the whole list of uninstalled assets I own (that's about 3000) , it would take hours each time I look for something, and even then I couldn't be really sure what the assets are from their name (plus, DAZ install has a link to the product but no image, and DAZ Central a small image, but no link, so I'd have to copy/paste the name of each product that might interest me in the shop to see what it is exactly). It's totally impractical.

Does anybody have a suggestion about how I could proceed to find specific products in my owned assets? Thanks in advance.

I'm working on updating Product Manager for DAZ so you can add tags (anything you want) and comments to your products so they're easy to find via search.  Currently it already has advanced search features, e.g. you can search on "hair female genesis 3" and get a list of all your g3f female hairs.  It's free for up to 1000 products.

I recommend this software. Not expensive and keeps track of all my stuff and I can do a search even if it's not installed, I know I've got it (or don't yet). Invaluable.

Just a word of warning - in redesigning the website, Daz has broken this previously, just like the DazDeals plugin. The price we pay for convenience, I guess. Taoz was quick to fix that tho ;).

They've broken it quite a few times over the years actually, but I've been able to fix it each time so far, and they seem to have the basic data structures in place in the new store now, so I don't expect any serious problems in the near future.  Still, I can't guarantee anything since I have no control over what DAZ does, that's the downside of that type of programs.

Once you have all your product data downloaded though, nothing can affect these, and the offline functionality of the program is independent of DAZ, so in a worst case scenario it will only be download of new product data that may break.  If that should happen I'll make it as easy as possible to manually add new product data.

You're welcome, and thanks for your support! :)

  • Late to the conversation, but want to toss in my two cents...

I highly recommend this product as well. I use it constantly to browse through my products. Being able to easily search is an obvious benefit. Easily paging through product thumbnails is even more useful. Being able to do all of that while offline is extremely helpful too.

Support has always been quick and helpful...  and I can safely say that very few of my communications have been for actual technical issues. Most of the time its insane feature requests that pop into my head.
