Product reviews

Is there perhaps a 3rd party website that has customer reviews of all the Daz products? I am really missing that here on the Daz store! I am only using Daz for a month and I already made a bad purchase and wasted 20 bucks that I could have spend on an other product. I don't know what the refund policy is, but I assume that I am stuck with the product. If I could read reviews it maybe will save me from buying stuff in the future that does not meet my expectation.

  • You can request a refund up to 30 days after purchase.

  • Quite often there are threads about a specific product either in this forum or the Daz PA Commercial Products forum. These usually pop up when something is released, so searching for information on older products can be a bit hit or miss. But as Richard mentioned, Daz does have a generous refund policy, so that may help you.

  • Ok thanks for the info.I will search the forum for the products in the future. It is just very helpful to know what other people experiences are especially when it comes to the performance of the products, not that I buy a lag fest product like I did yesterday. It's nice that I can refund it, but I rather just buy the right product right away of course :)

Oftentimes, product review sections don't help because hardly anyone uses them, at least nowadays. I shop at other 3D shops that have this option and no one really fills them out. (At least in regards to products I'm interested in.) Not even with a star rating.

The daz-deal browser add-on is very useful. It gives for a product the links to all the forum threads that mentioned the product. This is a very good way to collect opinions, tips, etc, on a product (provided it is old enough).

The Chrome browser add-on also identifies the gallery images with said product in use. Very good way to eyeball it and gauge its worth that way.

    Cheers!

  • keeping in mind too that everyone has different computer specs and resources, and what's laggy on one machine runs fast on another. some people complain about dhair, and dforce, but even with my old potato computer it was worth using to me. On the other hand, I only recently was able to render an ocean scene that previously my computer couldn't handle.

(all I want for christmas is a new graphics card!) ;)

I actually have a brand new gaming rig that is considered 'high end' (Legion 7) and with the product I bought yesterday I even have a hard time moving the camera around with iRay disabled. I just found the main culprit of the lag, it's the grass on the gound. There are 100+ grass objects on the ground that causes a huge performance drop.

I'll give that a try (if it works with firefox), thanks :)

@ramon73, yes the add-on works fine with Firefox and is really very useful. As to your product problem, it's common to disable certain memory-intensive scene elements before rendering, like the many grass instances you mentioned. You do that in the Scene tab by searching for the items you suspect of causing your viewport to lag, and then simply toggling the little eye symbol to closed. You arrange your scene the way you want to, and then toggle the little eyes back on for the final render. It's really quite simple. I suspect that most scenes that come with lots of grass will be causing some amount of lag in most people's viewports; that's just the nature of the thing I guess. Doesn't make the product faulty by default. So you might have actually bought yourself something quite nice, perhaps you just don't know quite how to use it yet.

Best bet always is, before returning something because you can't seem to get it to work: Check the forums for any threads on the product, or simply open one yourself, specifying the item and your problem and asking for help. The forums are very lively here, and many times, I've had issues solved really quickly!
