Question about parameter automation

I have a question about scripting or automating a task that I perform on every figure that I use.

I was just wondering if there is any way to automate the parameter settings that I use on all my G8 characters eyes?

Eye Rim Refine HD - 100%

Eyelids Lower Crease HD - 100%

Eyelids Upper Height - 25%

Eyelids Lower Height - 50%

It would be nice to just press a button to accomplish this look (see attached, screenshot 2 is the enhancements applied).

Do I look into creating a script? Is there an easier way to automate this so I don't have to change all four parameters?

I would also like to know the best way of automating common parameter changes.

What I can give you in the meantime to speed up your workflow is assigning shortcut keys. You can do this via WINDOW-->WORKSPACE-->CUSTOMIZE. I know it doesn't help that much with your example but as a general rule, it really does speed up repetative tasks (and save on hand ache).

I animate, and one useful tool is to get characters to look at each other. So I've set up a shortcut key for my right hand to pull up the script. I press enter to execute it (right hand), then another hot key for moving the animation to the next frame (left hand). I can blast through the whole animation quite quickly doing this, but I'd love to know if there is a built in way to do it. Otherwise there are always third party macro engines. They work but can get a bit out of control.

  • Set the values you want, then save a preset (I think those are all sahping morphs, so a Shaping preset - if they were a mix of shapes and poses, such as expressions, you would need a proeprties preset). In the options dialogue you can choose which settings to include - in this case, if you started from a zeroed figure, you could just use the menu button part way down on the right to select only non-zero. Once you have your preset, find it in the content pane and right-click>Create Custom Action, then add it to the Scipts or Favourites menu. Once you have it as a custom action you can use Window>Workspace>Customise to add it to a tool bar or another emnu if desired, by dragging from the Custom Actions group on the left to the desired menu or toolbar in the appropriate tab on the right.
