Last Frame Of Scene As First Frame Of New Scene

I am making a longer Daz Studio animation which I am composing from a number of smaller scene sequences.

The sequences are part of the same scene but to make the file size, rendering time and number of frames in the scene more manageable I prefer to split the scene up into smaller sections.

The question is:

Is there a way to start a new scene with the exact same layout (position, rotation, morphs, etc) at the last frame of the previous scene? I know you can memorize each node and then recall each node at frame 1 or do a similar copy/paste in Keymate but this seems like a very slow way to do it if you have many objects in the scene?

When I reduce the number of frames in the scene it always deletes frames from the end (thus making my scene 1 frame cuts the scene to the first frame). Is the any what to do something like "delete the first 50 frames"? That way I could delete all the frames in the scene except the last one (thus the last frame becomes the first) and then add new frames after it.

I never have solved this in DAZ studio, is much easier in other programs
only thing you can do is basically continue on where you left off setting your start frame number to you last one.
add keyframes to stuff to stop tweening from further back if needed.

I know I could continue and just set my frame range when rendering but I wanted to avoid this for a few reasons:

    1. Cutting the movie into small parts makes smaller scene files and thus they load faster.
    2. One of the ways to get around figures picking something up is to render the grab action in the first part of the scene (where the object is not parented to the figure) and then parent the object to the figure in the second part (so that the object moves with the figure).
    3. If I do any post production editing, it will be easier to work with smaller files.

This is why I was asking about copying the last frame to the first or removing frames from the front of the scene.

This is why I dislike proprietary file formats. If I open an Ani8or file, for example, you get fairly easy to understand, human readable, content which can be edited outside the Anim8or IDE if necessary. No such luck with DAZ scene files.

Is there a script that someone could possibly write for this? I have not played with DAZ scripting, so I have no idea.

I hate animating in DAZ studio with a passion
do only as it has some stuff that only works in it and not Carrara, iClone or Poser my preferred apps, use those wherever possible.
even with keymate I cannot figure out why a train moves backwards at the platform between two identical parameter keyframes!!!
its such DS quirks that irk me

Agreed. I prefer free solutions (which, as far as I can tell eliminates Carrara, IClone and Poser) so I have been using Anim8or until now. It is a tiny program (less than 5MB) which may not have the greatest GUI but has most of the big package features (including 3D model building, boning, animation sequence creation and scene creation). The only reason I use DAZ Studio is for the Genesis models. If I ever get some time, I'll try exporting out the DAZ Studio Genesis figures (have done that already for making clothing) with UV maps and then bone them inside Anim8or so that I can use Anim8or instead of DAZ Studio. I'll lose the Conforming Clothing but I can always conform the clothing in DAZ Studio and re-export it for that Genesis shape.

However it will be a lot of work to re-bone the Genesis figures.

  • Hello everyone. I'm in the same position as Lord_Ashes and would like to now whether 6 years later, it's possible to do so.
