8.1 Brow Expressions

8.1 facial movement seems pretty limited compared to 8 especially eyebrows, is there any product that adds more movement rather than just premade expressions??

  • When I installed the meta mixer, it gave me a ton of new sliders in the parameters tab. I haven't used the mega mixer yet but for the animated film I'm doing I've used the move Y setting and you get so much height to it. Just have the figure selected, not the head the figure name, and type brow into the search bar in parameters, scroll down a bit till you see a ton of grey boxes and move Y - BROW will be near the top of these new boxes. It'll might look really deformed in the viewport depending how high you go, but when you render it actually looks really good. The move X - BROW kind of clinched the brows together like a scowl as well.

I like the 8.1 expressions a lot but how they handle brows has always puzzled me.

Best enable 8.0 expressions on 8.1 to get those sliders back: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/477386/how-to-get-genesis-8-expressions-working-on-genesis-8-1#latest

I created a tool a while back that makes full use of Genesis 3, 8, and 8.1's facial armature. This enables the user to create some pretty dramatic expressions:

If you decide to use it make sure to select all the bones of the head and unlock all properties + disable all limits.

At the end of this video you can see both the Genesis Face Controls + Genesis 8.1 Face Controls in action together:
