Seems the rumor mill is running hot with news that the 3090Ti will be announced next year.. There is also talk of a 3080 12GB card, the still rumored 3070 Ti 16GB the 3050..
Here are the "leaked" specs for the 3090Ti..

now if we can just get them within $500 of the MSRP before inventory swallows them for Crypto mining and NFT token generation.
If true then that all points to further technology improvements and the in field proving of that tech being delayed for release by years by nVidia until certain entities stop overpaying for the GTX 1000 series, GTX 1600 series, RTX 2000 series, and RTX 3000 series. That might give intel & AMD the time they need to surpass nVidia technically.
Anything AMD or Intel can come up with, doesn't help one bit with Iray rendering.
There are plenty of other PBR based ray tracers besides iRay and iRay based products.

Fortuneately there are other Render Engines, and Blender is simple enough.

until Nvidia stops letting crypto miners, resellers and bots buy ALL their inventory, it's pointless to get excited about anything new they release IMO. They could release their new Superior line with 256 onboard DDR and 1 million CUDA cores for $500 and it wouldn't matter since no normal consumer will ever have a chance at getting one, especially at that price or close to it.
RTX cards have been available since May/June this year, attached is the selection of cards that are ready for delivery at the moment at my preferred store (translated from Finnish to English with Yandex)

...don't see much of a difference in specs or performance between the Standard 3090 and 3090 Ti. I would at least expect to see a boost to 32 GB of VRAM to make it worth it. A 450w TDP, yikes ,I'd go for a least a 1000w PSU.
As to a 16 GB Nvidia card I believe the A4000 will be it. MSRP is 1,000$ and a 3070 Ti likely won't be much cheaper. . Yes for gaming it would perform better but I just use the a GPU for rendering so the higher clock speeds are not all that important. The other nice feature of the A4000 it has a TDP of 140w which is less than my 3060 and even my old 1 GB GTX 460.while the TDP of the current 8 GB 3070 TI is over twice that and likely will be higher with the added 8 GB of VRAM.
Yeah when I saw the supposed specs of the 3090Ti, it is not much of an upgrade if you own a 3090.. I would love a A4000 but would require a new monitor or a HDMI/Displayport adapter, as the monitors I do have don't have Displayport.. I am very happy with my 3060, as it has the vram I wanted and does what I need it to do.. :)
..yeah that was part of the reason I planned to upgrade my system for W11 because they stopped issuing drivers for W7 and 8.1 for the pro grade cards several months earlier than the gaming ones.
Now that I have a 3060, I'm fine, however I'm on the last driver they issued for W7 so if there is and update of Daz that includes a revision of Iray which requires a driver beyond that one, I won't be able to use it. Not about to go back to glacial CPU rendering.
The image below is a snapshot of my GPU under Win10, and with GPU-Z running with pretty much nothing running the vram usage is about 530MB.. Since I now have a 3060 with 12GB of vram, the worry or running out of it is not so much of an issue now..
As you can see I have my onboard GPU running my other monitor, which is great as not so much of a load on my 3060..
