How to Dress Women who are not young Sexy girls, if the Majority of clothes is aimed at sexy?

The Majority of clothes is kind of aimed at Sexy women. Honestly i haven't seen anything for like middle aged old women who are not fashionable or anything.

I'm making some NPCs for my game using daz characters and i cant seem to find what to dreess them with, all i have is hot skirts, club dresses, hot dresses cause that's all i got cause that's all i find in Renderosity and daz . And the things that are like gardening cltohes that came with daz i think, were so cheap they creeate poke through so easy when sent to Unity via DTU bridge, so that's why i can't use those.

You mostly have to resort to using period women's outfits from the 20's, 30's, 40s, 50s, & 60s. There is quite a bit of that for Victoria 4 & Genesis, with lesser amounts for Genesis 2, Genesis 3, Genesis 8, & Genesis 8.1.

The good news is most of the the women's (and mens' if you're not trying to dress up a viking or Conan type character) clothing products for Victoria 4/Michael 4 & Genesis is DAZ+ (was PC+) and costs $1.99 per product if you are in the DAZ+ Club.

To use you just fit to load a Genesis base character, add each clothing piece & answer the autofit dialogue if it was a Victoria 4/Michael 4 clothing piece originally, load a base Genesis 2 character, change the clothing pieces you fitted on the base Genesis character to the base Genesis 2 character (by using parent in the Scene tab for a particular item of clothing and then choosing from autofit popup dialogue the version of the base Genesis character that it was already fitted to when prompted (could be Victoria 4, Michael 4, Genesis, Genesis 2 Female, Genesis 2 Male, Genesis 3 Female, Genesis 3 Male, Genesis 8 Female, Genesis 8 Male, Genesis 8.1 Female, or Genesis 8.1 Male), and then you load a base Genesis 3 character and again in the scene tab choose the item of clothing you want to refit currently fitted on a base Genesis 2 character and parent it to the base Genesis 3 character, and repeat the process all the way to the base Genesis 8.1 character and then applyt the morph dials for the particular Genesis 8.1 character you intend to use (technically you can use that character instead of the base Genesis 8.1 character and similarly for the earlier versions of Genesis).

Genesis 8 Starter Essentials has clones for all the previous generations of Genesis figures, no need to go through all the generations in between.
Genesis 8.1 is the same as Genesis 8 when it comes to wearables, so when you get the clothing fitted to Genesis first, you can skip all the intermediate generations and fit it to Genesis 8 next.

..be careful of using Gen4 clothing on G3 or G8 just with autofit.  Even with the clones, I sometimes find there are mesh distortions that affect the texture maps as well..

I often have to resort to older clothing styles as well for young and pre teen characters.

I have found in the past that doing the fits for each Genesis generation successively gets me better results. However, if the OP wants to buy SickleYield's clones I like the way they work or also, and this one is free, all the clones that Catherine made.

Can anyone post the link to Catherine's clones? They work really well & come in both T-pose & Y-pose versions where relevant.

You have to poke around a bit, but there's actually some quite nice contemporar stuff for 'normal' and older women. Like these:

    https://www.daz3d.com/frida-character-clothing-and-hair-bundle

    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-sunday-best-outfit-for-genesis-8-females

    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-collection-03--boho-outfit-for-genesis-8-females

    https://www.daz3d.com/mabel-8-starter-bundle

Also, you can use a lot of the more cleavage-y tops if you insert something underneath to make them less sexy - geoshells can help with that: https://www.daz3d.com/sexy-skinz--modesty (weird product name for what it does, but well ...).

    Edited to fix third link

I often need normal/everyday looking women in my productions. So here are some ideas for non-sexy women ...

    1. Mix and match between outfits. So the top is sexy but the skirt no so much, ditch the top. Find a plain one. (agree on previous comments period costume from the last century is fine)

    2. Use mesh grabber to sag the clothing. Make it look old in shape. Saggy cardigans are great at being completely non-sexy.

    3. Change the shaders to plain clothing. Also I've never done this, but could Look at my hair be used to add just a tiny bit of hair to the saggy cardigan? Anything to make the garment look worn. I used to use Rag-erator with my V4s. Not sure if it still works, but I have a need for Victorian poor people clothing in an upcoming production, so that will come in handy if it still does.

    4. Use aged UVs to give the skin features. I use Sydney 8's skin a lot. Of course no make up.

    5. Use morphs to put curves in the wrong places.

    6. There are a number of mega wardrobe clothing sets that have fairly plain items in them. Good for mixing and matching.

    7. Make the fit a little looser. Tone down her features in the clothing with breast smoothers and decrackifiers. The clothing will look more realistic too.

    Best of luck.

Personally I love sexy, scantilly clad ladies and am very attracted to them. BUT when trying to recreate a realistic scene of everday life I too find the lack of everyday casual clothing for the ordinary personal appalling. There is no shortage of warrior, knight, fairy, bikinis, halter tops, lingerie, etc clothing. But nothing for the ordinary Joe or Jane. And this is not unique to Daz, other competing Daz content sites have this trait as well.

It needs to stop. We need more clothing for ordinary people and average day to day situations.

And on that note the lack of any ice hockey props is very disturbing. Yes I have the hockey props for M4 but come on, they are too dated!

Many warm cheers and Seasons Greetings to ALL...

Sounds like a great tip and work around. Is there anything similar that would work with using a M4 or V4 or Genesis pose with a later Genesis character?

@Leana Thank you for posting this list. I found a few more items I'd not come across to expand my own "sensible" library. My fav find of yours was the Margrita outfit. A classic look that can work in a number of situations.

@kyoto kid - Are they fixable with mesh grabber? I've rescued some pretty bad fits with it. Of course it takes time....

  • For modest women's clothes, you can use men's clothing as well. For removing distortions in the clothing, most of the time I will use Fit Control, which handles most cases relatively well enough for single images. Of course Daz has other products for swapping clothes from one gender to another.

...not sure as that product a little out of my budget. It also looks as if it stretches textures unnaturally as well.

Why did you post an image with NO explanation? Is that dress product sold as a men's product? I ask as the op suggested using men's clothing on female characters.
