saving V/M4 as scene subset does not save clothes

just started using these for ths first time, is there a way to save one chacter with its clothes in order to merge into any future scene, now it did not save clothes, saving as scene is an option but then has to be loaded thorugh the menu-merge, i want them as icons where i can visually see the clothes before i load the set i want

Sounds like you are a former Poser user like me :-). I'm probably an idiot, but DAZ does not appear to allow (for example) importing an existing 'figure-plus-clothes-plus-props' to allow for example 4 pre-made figures to interact in a scene. In Poser, we merely IMPORTED an existng Poser doc and sucked in a full char+outfit+jewelry, so for 4 chars, import 4 existing Poser files and you have your 4 preformed people to place in the scene.

DAZ does not seem to support this. You seem to need to create a series of custom saves, which save your nude char, then a second save for clothing, and so on. I suppose you can accomplish the same thing, but it is far more fussy-work.

Can you not save as a scene subset - that should create a thumbnail for you, I think?

It does let me save scene subset . Icon is made with outfit. Then when icon is selected nude figure opens,, without clothes

Did you include the clothes when saving? They are parented to the figure by default, so if you don't expand the hierarchy in the options dialogue it is easy to miss them (they are not included automatically).

Sounds like none of it was conformed ("fit to" in DS speak) to the figure, not a surprise as even in Poser most of it isn't set to "auto-conform".

Easy way to find out is to move the figure (Translate X,Y or Z), if nothing moves with the figure then you'll know.

In DS right click the item either in the viewport or in the Scene tab, and select the "Fit [item name] to" option.

ok Richard thank you maybe i wasnt checking though i thought iu was-it worked this time-

other issue sometimes such as in M4 pirate everything conforms except the shirt-is there a way to parent or conform it to M4? i draged shirt under his name but still is not conformed-thanks!

anohter set is doorman for M4- it does not conform to M4 and the funny thing it cannot be selected in the scene to be deleted-it has to be selected through the scene tab only then deleted that way

fit to seems to be the solution

  • https://www.daz3d.com/door-man ? That is OptiTex dyanmic cloth, which does behave differently from standard clothing (including that with a dForce modifier applied)
