The saga of lost figures once again rears it's ugly head. Can't Find Centaur 8 Female

Hello all,

As the subject says, I once again wanted to create a character and looked it up in both the Smart Content and Content Library and it is not there.  Specifically in question is this:

I know I bought it, and it says so on the website.   I have tried to uninstall it and then reinstall it (using DIM).  I have tried to do the later and rebooted my machine after the uninstall and then the subsequent reinstall.  Nothing, it isn't coming back.  This is something that has happened before and it has me wondering why.  I have a large content library and don't often remember fully what I have.   So I have not created a female centaur in a while and wanted to do so.  So I was dismayed to find that the Genesis 8 MALE centaur shows up both in Smart Content and in the Content Library.

Any reason as to why this happens, and more important, how can I get it back?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you checked under Daz Studio Formats in the Content Library pane?

Yes, it isn't there.  Oddly though, the Oaklyn Character for Genesis 8 Female Centaur DOES show up in both Smart Content AND the Content Library and I am able to load it.   Since the Genesis 8 Female Centaur is a dependency, that means it is there somewhere since the character loads up.   I just can't find the package on my system.    BTW, I did find the hides and breeds packages and fixed that, but I have no idea where or what happened to the Genesis 8 Female Centaur package went...or is.

The Female Centaur preload in in /People/Genesis 8 female/Characters/, in the Content Library that folder may need paging using the buttons at the top to reach the preset (if it's there). The horse body alone is in the Centaur sub-folder of that. I expect that was where you were checking, but best to be sure.

Okay I have found them both there, however, how do I get it to show back up in the Smart Content folder.   I had noticed that there is an added Genesis 8.1 Female Centaur now.  So my guess is that things got screwed up with an update.

Genesis 8.1 doesn't need its own version of the centaur - it's the same basic figure aside from the surface grouping, and it should be able to handle Genesis 8 presets even there.

The G8.1 UV does screw up the geoshell, though.

So how come things just randomly get screwed up then?   Also, how do I fix this So I can have it back in my Smart Content folder were it supposed to be.  I need to access the materials too.   Remember, I tried to uninstall and reinstall the package and that didn't work.

"Getting randomly screwed up" is an indication of logging in/signing in to DS and letting DAZ Connect update the metadata.

A)  I don't have Daz Connect, I am still using the DIM.

B)  I ALWAYS use DIM with Daz closed.

That being said, things STILL get screwed up.  

My issue now is that even though I was able to get to the character the long way via Richard's help, I still can't find the materials.  It is like the whole package for Genesis 8 Female Centaur has disappeared from both the Smart Content and the Content Library.   So something else is causing it and while I can't point the finger to blame, but the 8.1 updates seem high suspect to me.  However, I have the Genesis 8 Male Centaur and THAT didn't get messed up.

You mean the main website?  Not usually.   I just have DIM open when installing product.

At any rate, there was a metadata fix option in one of the Smart Content menus, and that fixed the problem for the most part.  I think I am still.missing some textures though.

No, into DAZ Studio. 

In DS Preferences, how are your startup options set up?
Attached a sample of ones that do not result in DAZ Connect/Smart Content within DS to update metadata on their own.

I have found the textures!  This is the path to them:

I:\DazStudio\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Textures\DAZ\Characters\Genesis8\DAZCentaur

The black and brown ones were the ones I was after and I was surprised that after I fixed the metadata that only white showed up.   However, in following the path manually to where the white texture was, the others where there as well.   So what I want to do now is to get this folder to show up under materials for the Genesis 8 Female Centaur in Smart Content.

To answer your question above, the last item "Show Metadata Import Page" is ticked off.  The others are blank.
