Unable to Render Error.

Greeting, 

I've been Daz3d for a few weeks and this is what I'm being greeted with currently when hitting the Render Icon.  "Unable to Render. No Renderer Available". 

Not sure what would've/could've changed.

Any input on a place to start, please?

  • What operating system are you using? What hardware? What driver version? Have you disabled one of the render engines in Help>About Installed Plug-ins? Which render engine is set to be used - Edit or Advanced tabs of Render Settings?

    Hey Richard, 

    I'm on a Mac Mini M1 running MacOS Monterey 12.0.1.  Haven't touched the Plug-ins, but on checking there, everything is checked and Green.  Not sure about the driver version.

    Do you have CPU checked in Vidia advanced render settings?

    Have been into the same problem years ago.
    Where is your content directory installed? It is importent to not have it installed in your DS program folder, like many other apps have it.
    It might go well for some time, but at one point, you'll run into problems, like yours now.
    So to make it clear, don't install "My Library" into the same folder as the "DAZStudio. exe".
    Use the "DAZ Studio 4" folder for your programm files and a seperate "Studio" folder for your assets.
    This is important.

    Are yu sure you do not have any Anti-Virus software that has decided to remove the nVidia libs?

    If you check under /Applications/DAZ 3D/Studio 4, do you have the Iray libs there at all?

    No anti-virus and the files in that Iray folder seem to match up for the most part.

    Next - do IRAY show up in installed plugins and is it checked?

    Above, Richard had suggested checking that as well.  Yes, it's there, checked and green.  Every plug-in is showing checked and Green.

    If you just add a sphere and hit Render, still getting that message?
    Just checking if it's that you are rendering something too big for you RAM.

    Yes, same thing.  I even get it when there are no objects loaded.  I know it's not a RAM thing, I've rendered many large projects.

    OK, this was a tricky one, specially as your log clearly states no Iray as loaded. If you try 3Delight, same thing? Just to see where the error is.

    Actually, that seemed to work fine... well, it rendered at least, but for some reason, the figures' textures were all white.  Clothes and hair looked fine.

    OK, then it's bound to Iray render then. The  white chars is usually when rendering Iray skins in 3DL

    Any ideas?  I tried unchecking IRAY in plugins and then checking it off again.  Notta!

    Really weird issue. As they were not loaded (log said so), but at the same time they are said to be "ok" in the about plugins.
    What Hardware are you running on?

    M1 Mac Mini. 16G  OS12.0.1.

     

    I just don't get what 'broke.'  Everything was running fine... unless something updated and caused an issue.

  • Same issue. Suddenly overnight no renderer Nvidia Iray availble.

    No updates or anything like that undertaken. Just doesn't work anymore.

  • I'm having the same "unable to render" error message.  I rendered in Iray this morning, shut down, came back after lunch and can no longer get an Iray preview nor Iray render.

    M1 iMac, DAZ Studio 4.15.0.30, macOS 11.6.6

    Also, I have an Intel i9 MacBook Pro, macOS 10.15.7, DAZ Studio 4.12.0.86 that is giving the same "unable to render" message when attempting an Iray render.  I haven't used this Mac for DAZ Studio rendering in many weeks.

    Neither the MacBook Pro, nor the M1 iMac have had any recent system or software updates.

    At this point, DAZ Studio and all my assets are useless on 2 Macs, with the same error.  What the heck is going on?

  • Another data point: I can successfully perform Iray renders/previews on my M1 MacBook Air, macOS 11.6.5 (an earlier version than the M1 iMac), DAZ Studio 4.20.0.6 and DAZ Studio 4.16.0.3 (don't recall which one is production version vs. public beta.)

    So, 2 out of 3 Macs running older versions of DAZ Studio (pre-4.16.x.x) are throwing the "unable to render" error when attempting Iray renders/previews.

    I have just completed a macOS security update on the MacBook Pro (Intel) to see if that helped, but DAZ Studio will still not Iray render.

    Same problem. Woke up this mornning DAZ wouldn't render or give me any Iray preview anymore. How do I solve this?

  • I updated my DAZ Studio beta version to 4.20.1.38 (latest available one as of today.). Iray rendering works fine with it and I assume the current production version as well.

    I'm keeping my "broken" version of DAZ Studio in case there's an easy fix, but I'm now using the beta build in order to render again.  I had to recreate all my ghost lights due to changes in Iray between my older DAZ Studio versions and the newer/newest versions.

    Not the preferred solution, but at least I can do Iray previews and Iray renders again.

  • I sent in a help desk ticket a few minutes ago describing the Iray issue.  Others might need to do the same with specifics on their hardware, macOS version, DAZ Studio version to help the DAZ team track down the problem.

  • Encountered the same issue today, using Daz Studio 4.15 on macOS Monterey. Nothing was updated or changed since yesterday, so this problem happened for no apparent reason. Had no other choice but to upgrade to Daz 4.20. Rendering "works" on 4.20 for me, but it is much much slower.
