SHADERS ON IMPORTED OBJ MODEL

Hi, i've a problem with imported obj, they didn't accept any shaders. As you can see from the pictures, on the left the cube imported from MESHMIXER (or any other CAD software), after applied at first DAZ UBER SHADER and then Cracked marble shader, it remain white, while the cube on the right is from DAZ primitives. I've checked online, but i didn't find any suggestion about this issue. Please could someone tell me the procedure to wrap the shaders on the imported obj or give me a link for a tutorial? Thanks in advance.

Is the model UV mapped? That's required for image-based shaders to work.

It's all white because it's using the very first pixel of the map to assign to the entire obj. I bet if you offset at some point it changes to some other color in the marble map.

As leana mentiond you are probably missing the UV maps. This is a common mistake even I made early on when designing my own stuff, you have to make sure to apply a map and set the UV mapping. I'm not sure about meshmixer, but I use Rhino and I have to tell it to set the UV's to surface or box and actually apply an image for it to label it for export in the CAD program. If I assign different textures and material layers to different objects I can export the whole thing as an OBJ and each one will have it's own shader channel.

If MESHMIXER doesn't have a way or an easy to way to apply UV's then use Blender to create your UV mapping.

  • I thought it was possible to apply UV's directly in Daz studio, since primitives already have it...anyway, thanks to everyone.
