Content Manager?

I'm using Monterey on an iMac. Everything was going along great with DAZ Studio until yesterday when it refused to load up. I didn't do anything to the computer between when it was working and when it wasn't. I uninstalled the copy and downloaded 4.16 but it refuses to install giving me an error message of content manager couldn't be installed. I'm just trying to track down the problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled until my heart hurt. I even downloaded the updated IOS, but still to no avail. Am I the only sad DAZ user who can't play with all the goodies she bought over Christmas? If anyone has any ideas why I can't bring up the app, I sure would appreciate being pointed in the right direction. Also, DAZ Central has never worked on my Mac. I'm just not sure what is going on. Thanks in advance for any advice, Denise

  • Are you sure it says Conent Manager? Anyway, that sounds as if a MacOS update is probably blocking the execution - I think Gatekeeper can be told to allow it, but can't recall the exact steps.

thank you. I did use GateKeeper but it didn't make any difference. I kept getting an error message about the content manager couldn't be loaded. What I'm kind of stunned about is it was working fine and then, it tried to give me a stroke, and at my advanced age, that's not a good thing! I can't seem to track down the problem, so I thought I'd ask if anyone else was having issues. • I am a Windows 10 user. Last night I changed my interface colors. This morning, I created some default files with only lights. I was going to test one and DAZ no longer has a Smart Content tab or a Content Directories tab! They are not in the Windows tab. Help! I can't load any content in my scenes without these two tabs!

My system is new as of October 2021:

    32 GB RAM

NVIDIA GTX 3060 with 12 GB on the card

Installing to an External WD Drive [D:] But has a small SSD for C:\, which I avoid putting anything on. I bought this machine with Win 11 and had many DNS problems surfing the Internet with some pages taking 10 mins to load, like in 1995! Last week I found out I didn't have to buy Win 10 to install it and I did. Everything's been working like a charm, so I had just reinstalled DAZ and all my 3500+ items last week. I am reluctant to go through all of that again! Is a patch coming out soon? Is there anything I can try to bring my tabs back? I will look on the NVIDIA site and see if there's an update.

  • I just updated my NVIDIA driver. I still can't load any content because the tabs are missing! My system specs and the driver I downloaded are below. Thanks!

If you go to Help>About Installed Plug-ins are any disabled by being unchecked or by being the wrong version (red plug icon)? Content Library pane does have its oiwn plugi-in listed there, or should

  • Over half of them are disabled, including Content Manager! Here's a screenshot of the first page.

  • Enable them and restart Daz Studio.

  • I looked at the log file and now I know what I did. I changed the one path to the C: drive in Application Data  to my D: drive.. Does the path to AppData on C: have to be there or can I point it at D: ? I want to run everything from my D: drive in case I have to reinstall Win 10. I am a bit paranoid after all the problems I had with Win 11. I am on my third clean install since Halloween and I am sick of having to reset all my passwords [which I am still in the process of doing!].

Also, I have Poser 12 installed but there is no option for it. I still have 2014 and I could still install it but now I use DAZ pretty much all the time rather than Poser. If DAZ needs it I will install it.

    Reading this document

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/artzone/pub/software/dazcontent

Didn't realize all the default stuff is born of Poser. Interesting!

Here's what they are in the screenshots. Thanks! I do not see a place where I can change

    C:/Users/danni/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/Studio4/

    to

    D:/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/Studio4/

So, is this one of those things that I just need to put up with? The really bad thing about being a former computer tech is that, I tend to break things everyday users don't think to monkey with. My Really Stupid Reason for hating this default path is that Windows wants to rename me....is one letter just too hard for Windows to take?? Thanks for listening!

=== All my paths below ===     I'm keeping notes for the next time I have to reinstall stuff. Yeesh! I seem to break DAZ on every new PC, and it's always the same theme: Keeping my stuff on a portable drive.

These are my notes and the correct paths, which I can't do from memory. Old age has its effects LOL

  • The ProgramData location is not, so far as I know, adjustable - except via whatsit junction. Mine has only a 1KB file, I'm not sure what it does. The same goes for the AppData, as fas I know.

The content library path can be where you like, and the folder named what you want - "My Daz 3d Library" has no functional significance.

Whata re you wanting to set the Poser path for Poser 12 for? As far as I know the only things that would need that are Python scripts, and Poser 12 has an updated Python which means that none of those in the store would run anyway.

  • Well, if it's only storing 1 KB then I'm not worried. Where is the setting for this, so I can put the path back?

As for the P2012 path, I thought I might need it for some old Poser items in my catalog. I have P11 but not P12 because I don't think I would use it much. I really love DAZ!

Thanks very much for your help! :D
