clearing animation line

Once the keyframes have been made im not able to delete many of them, even with keymate-seems the keys didnt go directly on the arrow so there not being recognized, to begin a new animation I have to reopen the file (withoput saving) -is there a way to delete the whole time line to begin the animation from scratch?
