Diffuse strength

I see that some materials for human figures (e.g. Phillip for Michael 5) have Diffuse strength set to less than 100%. What the purpose?

The colour strengths - reflection, SSS and diffuse/ambient - should not be over 100% in total or the surface is emitting light that it receives and since at least some light is absorbed the ttoal strength should rally be under 100%. Lower values for diffuse strength are pretty much required in physically-based renderers, such as Iray.

    Never really knew that. Thanks!
