Change bit depth?

I need to export a png sequence into Davinci Resolve, however I can only import a bit depth of 24 and naturally DS exports at 32.

Is there anyway of changing this without editing 300+ frames in photoshop?

Thanks!

    Thanks but I'm asking if there's a way of changing the settings in DS?

    Render a Beauty Pass canvas (Advanced tab of Render Settings) and when you save the render a folder with the same name and Cancvasses appended will be created holding .exr files with plenty of bits.

    Had to wait until I got home... How do you get 32bit PNG's out of DS? Mine are 24bit.

    I suggested Irfanview as a tool for batch conversions. I have converted 1000+ texture files with it in one go and it didn't take but a couple of minutes.

    Any 24 bit PNG that has transparency is called 32 bit.

    I tried rendering a png without transparency but it still came out 32 bit.

    Premiere never had this problem, this seems to be a Divinci issue with 32 bit.

    Updated my Irfanview to the latest version and I must appologize, although Irfanview still shows the image as 24BPP at the bottom, and reserves memory as 24bit image, the Image Information states "Original colors: 16.7 Million (32 BitsPerPixel)"

    If you save the file with Save As, the PNG save options has check box for "Save Transparent Color", with it unselected the resulting file says "Original colors: 16.7 Million (24 BitsPerPixel)" -> With Batch processing it would not take but a "second" to save the images as 24bit images.

  • Make sure you are comparing the matching numbers - I was thinking you wanted 24 bits per channel, rather than a total of 24 bits, for compositing while Daz Studio rnders are only 8 bits per channel.

    I'm confused. I save to .png image sequence every time I make an animation and I create the video file in DaVinci Resolve. However, if I look at the image information those .png files are only 8 bit.

    @marble

    that is 8 bit per channel.

    8 bit red
    8 bit green
    8 bit yellow
    8 bit alpha
    =
    32 bit altogether

    @phazdvideo

    Resolve officially supports 32 bit png - is there a reason you want png without alpha channel?

    Ah I see. However, I have no problem using my .png image sequences with DaVinci Resolve. I use the free version and have since version 15 (it is now 17).

    XNConvert - https://www.xnview.com/en/xnconvert/ - is designed as a batch processor and will do many things inlcuding reducing color depth.  free for personal use.

    Same company makes XNView MP, also free for personal use.

    Licences are perpetual if you need to buy one.
