If your game only uses rendered sprites, images or animations of the character then yes, you can use it without interactive license.
If your game uses the actual 3D content then you need interactive licenses for all the products you used in order to be allowed to distribute the game, even if it's a free game.

Or use Poser or iClone instead of daz studio, those don't require additional "interactive licenses" .. Then if you want to stick with daz studio you may find a couple of good bundles you like and restict your game content to those bundles. This way you pay the interactive license only for the bundles and it is cheap enough.

@Leana I'm not sure if the base packages distributed free with daz studio do require an interactive license too. I guess so.

LOL I do that, getting the bundle version of the license, I didn't know if anyone else had caught onto that.

yeah not sure where one would buy those now

I have the defunct indie one that covers that and DAZ originals but even there I don't know what is covered as some DO PAs left DAZ

So far only cooked games for my own use to use Ansel so hasn't been an issue but could be one day

The problem is not the program you use, it's the content. The base content bundled in Poser may not require additional license, but using Daz content for Poser will still require one.

If you mean the various Genesis starter essentials, yes they do. They all have product pages in the store where you can buy the interactive license, the easiest way to find those pages is to search for the essentials in the "product library" section of "my account" then use the "view product page" link.

and not all Poser content has the equivalent of an interactive license, as part of the package or as an add-on.

So if I understand it right those 'visual novels' I see on Steam store that contains Daz renders (stills adn animated) don't require any license?

Distributing 2D renders, still or animated, is allowed by the DAZ Eula without the need for separate Interactive License.

The Interactive Licence is needed if you intend to include any of the assets that you have bought in a game.
