Rotate model around axis

I have just bought a large Island environment and I am having a hard time to position models on the Island. At position zero I can rotate the model around the axis, but when I have placed the model more on the edge of the Island (I want to let to sit her in a chair) I can't rotate the model around the axis anymore. The rotation sphere is like 30 meters away from the model and I have to zoom out so far that It's almost impossible to precisely positon a model this way.

Is there a trick that I am missing? How you you guys do that?

That sounds like you are not moving the pivot point of the figure, but the hip instead.

You can see the difference in parameters tab, when you select the base figure, the xyz values are specifying the location of the pivot point, around which the whole character is rotated - Versus selecting the hip (not pelvis) and checking if the xyz values of the dials are non-zero.

If the xyz values at the hip are zero, then the pivot point for rotating the whole character is at the ground level between the characters feet when the character is posed in zero pose.

Ahh I see now. What I have been doing so far is right clicking the model, then select the whole mode and then I start rotating. Selecting the hip instead works fine now, thanks!
