Help Trying to save pose but scene comes with it ?

Hi I'm pretty new to Dazstudio. I don't know why it's very hard to use even simply thing like UI and tool is not so user friendly at all. Anyway I try to save pose but the scene comes with it even I only select a character in the scene tab and when I try to reapply pose that I save but it load entire scene instead.

I go to File - Save as - Pose preset just like in tutorial. Not sure which part I miss. help please

Thank you so much

  • That is certainly a scene not a preset. File>Save As>Pose Preset should work, though - do you get an options dialogue when saving? Where is the file going (all of the Save As options use a different default sub-folder, and track the last folder used separately, so it may not be where you think)?

    Erm. That's odd.

It should be a pose preset if saved with File| Save As| Pose Preset then get an options window with a huge number of checkboxes. The thumbnail is saved is a tex mapped 91px square image of what's on the screen at the time. So, if there is other stuff visible, it'll be in the thumbnail even if the pose only was saved. I have had occasions when DS has put an incorrect flag on poses. Never had it put a 'Scene' flag, though. I have had 'Pose' put on a 'Wearable' preset, so it's not 100% reliable.

To save a pose preset, you do need to have the figure selected, otherwise if the root is selected, it may default to a scene. Not sure I'm right, but it'd be a safe option.

  • Saving a Pose Preset with nothing selected will throw an error.

Since you are showing a search result, I'm gonna ask some "dumb" questions to eliminate the obvious.

The reason is that in my experience, the search not always find me the results I want (still is way better than the search in this forum).

How many times you tried to save a pose preset?

Did you save the scene using the same filename as the pose preset?

Did you save the pose preset in a location that is mapped to DAZ studio?

Can you find the folder where the file is saved within DAZ and in Windows explorer?

That will paint a better picture of your situation.
