Italian 550 Sports Car
I bought this car today to use in Daz and IClone and I installed it using the download installer - I kind of thought it would of installed in daz if it loaded in the downloader and installed their but I can't find it - Does any body own this car that can tell me if I shouldn't of loaded it or not or where I can find it - In the mean time i'll check out the zip file -

3DS Max or compatible program required is in the read me file - IClone is and can use the 3DS FBX files but theirs no FBX file - only a zip file with some JPGS and instructions that state to unzip to a folder and create a path in a compatible program ! Of course I don't use max but by a compatible program do they mean a auto desk program like maya - Will Daz act as a compatible program in this case.

I don't use iclone but I do own that model. I was surprised that it didn't install as smart content, not a big deal though.

It should be in: Content Library > Figures > Cars > F5550

At least that's where I think it automatically I stalked, I moved it into another folder a while ago.

    Hope that helps.

It created a F550 Cars folder in the content library but it wasn't under figures and that folder is empty but if you browse to the folder location = it is a daz folder that contains the same data from the unzipped folder of the download So what do I have to do to get Daz to associate with and recognize that file -
    The Path is
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\F550 Italian Sportscar

Is it easy to mave the content to the main smart folder - ?

    Thanks -

I'm going to re-download it and install it again to see where it goes, but in the meantime, try this:

Open Daz studio, but don't open a new scene.

In your Smart Content Pane -
Left Click the icon on the upper right, it looks like a notebook page with a triangle in the top left corner. There are a lot of these, so make sure your in the smart content pane.

    Select "Content DB Maintenance"
    Select Re-Import Metadata
    UNCLICK "ALL PRODUCTS"

Okay, now scroll through that list, and see if The F5550 is listed - On my system it is listed as "FM555 Sports Car"

If it is listed, click that item only, and go ahead and click "accept" to reimport.

    That could fix the issue.

No - It wasn't listed - I do want to be sure you understand I don't own 3d Max -
I own Urban Construction for Iclone and was wanting a good looking car - I can bring cars in through exchange from 3d warehouse but I really like the looks of this one - and of course use it in Daz -

I don't understand why a fbx or obj file wouldn't be included or what programs would recognize the file - I've never seen that kind of association before -
I might of made a mistake but that's why I'm here checking with you guys before I contact Daz and tell them their favorite dummy messed up again - lol

    Thanks -

You prsumably bought http://www.daz3d.com/f550-italian-sportscar-3ds-version which is indeed in .3ds format. That is a general format, though DS won't read it, so you could convert it with another 3D application - however, it still wouldn't be rigged for use in DS or have materials. You should probably open a suppor ticket to request a refund and then perhaps buy http://www.daz3d.com/fm555-sportscar (though the materials don't appear to be DS-optimised).
