terradome-3-iray has a sky dome? and terraluna-3 star backgrounds

I wanted to make sure that

1-The terradome has a skydome that will work in Iray?

2-is this the latest terradome system? (I thought it was brand new but saw the sku is 34493)

3-Will I be able to I get the same night time starry skies as shown in the terraluna-3?

4-Terra luna says it can be used stand alone or with terra dome-will I be able to get those great skies even without the terra dome 3 or they are skies on a plane and terra dome will just put the same skies

in 360? I'm trying to find out the difference between the two used seperately or individually.

I want to make sure someone at intermediate level will be able to get similar starry sky results.

I was hesitant to get the terra luna because more often than not my renders will come out nowhere near like any promo images.

I use an old pre Iray sky dome now that I had to rig emmissive and transparent just to make it work (it doesnt work perfectly but it does give a 360 degree sky)-with this method I can get no 360 degree star sky.

thanks for your help

Terradome 3 is 100% Iray for environment (skydome), terrain, atmosphere and water.

1 - The skies are all HDR images that provide their own light (12 of them). 360 degrees.

    2 - Latest

3 - Yes, with Terraluna 3 or any other starry HDR image, it doesn't matter, it's all about the Environment map.

4 - No planes. Terraluna provides a moon prop and separate light control, along with 12 more HDR images for the skydome, 4 dawn, 4 dusk and 4 night (yes, with stars, but not any star patterns we are familiar with). You can use it as the environment map for any scene.

    Thanks North,

just to be sure you say terraluna has hdr images for a skydome,

it is a skydome with dome geometry or the hdr images are just loaded through the enviornmental map in render settings?

and to check double sure you are saying no matter what my level is in daz I will no problem be able to acheive similar results as the terra moon promo images? Night time and starry skies have been the hardest for me up until now , that is why I am being careful before clicking purchase.

I just want to make sure it works right , thanks for your help.

The Iray "skydome" is a built-in construct that can be finite or infinite (see Dome Mode, not sure where it is in Studio 4.16). The image is simply loaded throught the Environment map.

Your results are certainly influenced by the vendor's setup, but there are many parametes to play with. Terraluna's default render settings work very well, but your scene might require some tweaking. It's part technical, part magic...
