dforce and 8.1

I've bought several things recently but they aren't working as advertised. I have several assets, hair/clotthes that are supposed to work with dforce, but don't. After testing I discovred that these products will work with genesis 8, just not with 8.1 figures, but they claim they'll work with 8.1. To their credit, I suppose, these outfits/hairss will load onto the models just fine. However, dforce will not work on siad items. Is there something I need to do specifically to get dfoce to work with 8.1?

It would be helpful if you could tell us what Clothes and Hair products you are talking about :)
Any product/hair is affected insofar as genesis 8.1 is concerned. I can use the same products with genesis 8 just fine. The only reason I ask is because these products claim to be 8.1 compatible but I'm thinking that doersn't apply for dForce. But to give a concrete example, https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-wise-master-outfit-for-genesis-8-males will not work with 8.1 no matter what I do. Which sucks because I bought it specifically for that purpose...
I feel like I shouldn't have to say this, but just in case somebody is wondering, I am using Genesis 8.1 Male.
What happens when you try to simulate dForce?
Wise Master is currently simulating on Genesis 8.1 Male for me.
When I try I get an "Error during simulation". This is on a new PC, with a fresh install of Daz, using 4.16.
The specific error I got in the log was:
2022-01-28 11:18:36.333 WARNING: ..\..\..\src\dzdynamicsengine.cpp(3088): ERROR: Unknown OpenCL Error (-9999) (-9999)
At least I'm assuming that's where the problem is, no idea what that means though.
The rest of the log might explain, but do not copy the text to the message area, attach the log to your post instead.
Log attatched. I also updated my drivers, that didn't work.
What happens if you hide all the hairs on the character before simulating? The Zak facial hair and body hairs seem to have some issues.
Interesting. That turned out to be the issue. I also had to hide the hair because it was taking forever to simulate with it on, but the outfit is working fine for me now. I'll defenitely keep this in mind for the future because I never would've thought of that. By chance, do you have any other suggestions/tips for using dForce? Even if you don't, thanks for the help! I've rendered with dForce before but my previous PC couldn't really handle it so I don't have much experience with it. The more you know...
I prefer clothing that can be used without dForce because they usually have a lot more morphs on them than dForce ones.
One unrelated thing did jump out from the log though. If you are using DAZ Install Manager/DAZ Central/manual installation for installing your content, you do not have any reason to log in to DS (which the log suggests you are doing)
Yeah, I'm noticing that. This outfit in particular doesn't have morphs at all but the closest equivalent I've seen for it is something for Genesis 3. I might convert it though because I like dForce as an addition but I don't like being forced to use it to get poses to look right.
Ah, ok cool. I just logged in to log in. Buf if it's not necessary I won't worry about it.
Set your startup options in DS as in the attachment.
Logging in to DS is needed only for installing content within DS ('Smart' Content/DAZ Connect) and installing stuff that way puts the stuff in an other location, taking twice the space if the assets were already installed by the other installation methods, and often the DAZ Connect installations suffer from decryption errors after which the installed assets don't work at all.
If you have multiple dForce objects in a scene, it's a good idea to only simulate them one at a time, setting General/Simulation/Freeze Simulation to On for all objects except the one you want to simulate right now.
Also, every object in a scene that is not likely to collide with your dForce item should have Display/Visible in Simulation turned Off, and this includes stuff like eyebrows and eyelashes which don't produce useful collisions anyway. This will massively speed up simulations.
I put this on hold for a while and tried my hand at some other things. Now that I'm back at it, I know that I'm no Daz expert but this particular item just seems to be bad. Along the way I've figured out some techniques to make using dforce easier, but that can only get you so far depending on the asset. The dforce in this outfit is just bad. I hid all the clothes that wouldn't matter when simulating and this is the result I got. The outer tunic isn't really following gravitaional logic and even though I did get it to conform a bit, it's still being clipped by the pants in the end. If I try and simulate with the pants on, the meshes explode... I'm all for dforce, but it should be an additive for a product not an ends all "solution". The crazy part about this is that these items are bundled together, how do you bundle incompatible productrs together? I didn't get the bundle, it's just something I noticed.
Honestly, I'd love to see if somebody could get this outfit and that pose to work together.
I don't have that outfit.
How are you simulating. Current frame or animated timeline?
If current frame it might not have enough time to settle, and therefore also the clipping. I almost solely use animated timeline, as it gives me much better control of the simulation.
Current frame. I'll try animated timeline and see if that helps. I really want to use this outfit... like really.
For animated timeline I would suggest default pose in frame 0, and the the wanted pose in probably frame 15.
You can watch during the timeline and see if you get problems. If then more frames (for the pose) or an in-between pose can help sort it out.
