Daz's Primitives Settings

hello,

is it possible to use Daz's primitive settings on our own custom, imported OBJs?

The sphere primitive is bouncy when applying a dForce simulation on it - i'd like to apply this characteristic to my custom mesh.

Is this possible? where would i go about starting to see if it's possible?

  • No, the primitives are generated by code rather than being a library of geometries to which additions can be made. You could save your object as a Sceen Subset, right-click on it in the Content Library>Create Custom Action and then have access to it through the Scripts or Favourites manu (ot another menu using Window>Workspace>Customise).

thats a interesting thing, the scene subset - im still learning daz and that's cool, to easily add a custom object to the scene.

but is that in any way connected to appliyng the daz's sphere primitive physics to a custom object? maybe i should use physics scripts on my custom object? if that's even a thing?

You could try to copy/paste the dForce surface settings from a primitive to your OBJ.  I suspect that the bouncy nature of a sphere primitive is a result of it's geometry more than anything else.

i tried that, and nah, my custom object just drapes on itself

  • The bounce will just be a consequence of the geometry - which means it will not be readily transferable to a different shape/topology
