I would install Daz "Install Manager" (DIM) first, and then you can install and uninstall apps and content from DIM, including Daz Studio.

    Download DIM: https://www.daz3d.com/install-manager-info

Install DIM on the C: Drive at its default location.

Run DIM, check the box to "Work Offline" (so you can set your Prefs in DIM via the Gear icon) and click the "Start" button. Once DIM is installed, close and re-launch it, and then connect online this time. It will sync with your Daz user account and then you can choose what Apps and Content to install. Select the checkbox for Daz Studio and click "Start Queue".  Once Daz Studio is installed, it is best to only use DIM to install content when Daz Studio is not running.

Also:  In addition to installing Daz Studio 4.15, PostgreSQL also needs to be installed through DIM:

If you want a custom path to your 3D Content, for example on an External Drive.  Enter the path into both DIM (under Installation tab) and the same path in Daz Studio prefs (under Content tab) "Content Directory Manager".

  • It deepnds on whether he wants to customise locations - Daz Central puts everything in a single folder, with sub-folders for content, applications, and so on. Install Manager allows paths to be set fully independently. It also sems the ebtter option, currently, for Macs with Big Sur or later.

    thanks robertswww

Richard which is the better option for just someone to open up a model to edit it, not relaly to use daz for anything much else

@VicS Check out these 2 short videos on how to Install Daz Studio using Daz Central...

Some of the advantages of using Daz Install Manager (DIM) include:
    1. Ability to see which products that you've already downloaded have Updates available
    2. Easy to both install and Uninstall products
    3. Some scripts and utilities will only be available to install via DIM
    4. You can drop properly prepared 3rd-Party content using Content Package Assist (CPA) or Content Wizard (CW) into the DIM Downloads folder

It's under the download links on (most) Product Library pages https://www.daz3d.com/get_install_manager/
