Ok....
So I splurge on a really nice dream home to put some characters in... Open Daz and
Click/Boom...
There she is, in all her True Dream Home Glory...
Except, I am about 70 meters away, so lets go on a walk through of my new $27 mansion....
scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll
now I am only 50 meters away
scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll
Almost there
scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll
Sigh... made it!
Now I am thirsty from my trip... better head to the kitchen and grab a cold one from the fridge...
scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll
Wait! Where am i? Is this a closet?
scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll
Ooops... I guess this is the bathroom
scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll
Now I am floating about the living room
scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll
Egad!
scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll
I'm outside again
scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll
Wait! ugghhh stop... !!!!
Think smarter, not harder!
HERE IS AN IDEA!
I'll just pop off the roof so I can see where I am going
roof... roof...
ah! Here... roof 1 *click*... wait... no that is not it.
rooftop1... surely, that is it! *click*... well, that just took off the shingles.. where the heck is... *click* *click*
scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll
*click* *click*
*click* *click*
scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll
AGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Really, all I want to do is place figures in the house... I am getting Nausea from all this scroll/Clicking and am banging around the asset like a drunken sailor in zero G...
There HAS to be a better, way. I am not picking on True Dream Home, its just the latest I've bought, they all seem to be like this.
What do you guys do when you need to do work in the bowels of a House/Apartment/Business asset?

Activate the Navigation Tool, go to the Tools Settings pane, increase the number under move control, use WASD keys on the keyboard to navigate like a FPS.
It's the CEILING of each room you want to TURN OFF to make the room interior visible.
Are there cameras in the rooms, that you could parent the character too, the unparent them once they are in there? Or drag the character into the room, once you have the camera view on? (Sorry, don't have any of my D|S computers on, and I think I have seen someone suggest this before as a solution.) I may be totally confused and I have ran into that myself too often.
Select your human figure that you want to place in a room, then click the MOVE tool, then simply drag your human into the room you want them in. You don't have to remove the roof and ceiling of the whole house - just the room you want them in. The move tool will show up even if there is a roof on. You seem to be moving the camera instead of moving the human. It's also good practice to load ONE room, unless you're making an animated movie where the camera tracks through the house. If you want to load the entire house - you can make all the rooms you're not using invisible by turning them off.
Using the MOVE tool with your human, you can drag them through an entire city in a few seconds.
Thanks Fauvist (and the rest for your suggestions)
scroll scroll...
Is it possible to load just one room? When I go to the assets user facing folder.. there is just ONE duf.. the entire house.
It seems to be an all or nothing affair...
And sadly, I combed through the scene tab, and there isn't anything labeled ceiling.. or ceil... I used the search function and the only things with ceiling in it are the ceilinglights groups...
It seems like PAs like to group walls and ceiling/roofs together... so by turning one off, a lot of other things go with it.
Sorry! I thought you were talking about the DAZ Dream Home that comes as separate rooms. If you select the SURFACES tab, and open up the surfaces of the house, there should be a roof or ceiling surface listed. If you change the CUTOUT OPACITY to zero, the roof or ceiling should disappear. Alternately, you can take the surface selection tool and click on the roof, or ceiling, or whatever is covering the rooms - some interiors are surrouded by an opaque box, which can also be selected - and then make those invisible. I think you can also select your CAMERA and then the MOVE TOOL and drag the camera where you want it - I think.
