  • That, unfortunately, is how it works. If the files are still there is should just check thema gainst the current server version and download only for updates, but in the past (I haven't tried recently) that did not seem reliable.

I completely gave up on Daz Connect and returned to DIM. That move has resolved many problems. Here is a post I made in February 2020 that outlines some of the Connect problems. I beseech you to shun Daz Connect for your own sanity. wink

To return to DIM, first UNINSTALL content from Daz Connect and then install it with DIM. If you do not uninstall with Daz Connect first, the Daz Connect version will continue to be used and the DIM installation will be ignored. Then NEVER log into your account inside Daz Studio again, so you will never accidently install something with Daz Connect in the future.

Hi Barbult, thank you that is exactly what I have decided to do.

DAZ Connect is 36 hours / 100GB in and only halfway for content that's already installed on my SSD. And it has been throwing connection errors for the past 6 hours (yes I submitted a ticket.

So I've stopped the DAZ Connect install and uninstalled everything. Starting the re-install with good old reliable DIM.

You will be much happier. Be sure to change your Daz Studio preferences to turn off auto login so you don't accidently install something with Connect again. That also stops the automatic Connect metadata updates. The metadata installed by DIM has been all I need, and as you've discovered, can be reloaded if necessary.

I don't know what "Refresh Package Data" is either. You probably need to reimport metadata again, now that you have installed everything with DIM. The old Connect thumbnails were in the cloud/meta folder and now the DIM installed ones are in the runtime/support folder. Have you already closed DS and restarted it? I'm just guessing here. It has been a long time since I went through this transition.

Which thumbnails? The product or the individual assets? Many old Poser products have no Product thumbnails because they have no metadata other than what is generated by DIM, and definitely no Smart Content to go with it. If they are DAZ Studio format, most have the metadata support files, and you are certain they were there before, maybe a Studio restart like Barbult suggested will refresh the links to the database.

I believe Refresh Package Data is for when the package gets replaced or modifed behind the scenes, like manually downloading and overwriting the file, or restoring an older one. DIM wouldn't know otherwise. I am pretty sure (been a while) I have used it for packages made with Content Package Assist from third party products. They obviously cannot be downloaded from anywhere, and sometimes need an update or correction.

If the metadata support files (DAZ_3D_xxxxx_Product_Name_yada_yada.dsa, .dsx, .jpg or .png) are in the Runtime/Support folder, the thumbnails should display. DIM installs them along with everything else. Maybe CMS is looking for the old metadata folders from Connect, so try that re-importing the metadata thing...

You can reimport your metadata for DS in DIM as well. Go to installed tab>select all box>rt click>re-import metadata.
