How to apply Kids 4 Poses/Clothing to Genesis 8 - Solved

Hello,

Is there a way to convert or apply poses made for Kids 4 to Genesis 8 figures? Additionally, can Kids 4 clothing be converted to Genesis 8 as well?

Hi PerttiA. Am I correct in assuming then, that because they are using a clone to fit the clothes the a G3 figure, it would not be possible to save the fitted clothes and then autofit them to a G8 figure?

When you have fitted the item to G3, it becomes a G3 clothing, which you can then convert to G8.

The clone is just telling DS the differences between the source figure and the target figure

Genesis 1 has an auto fit clone for K4. So if you don't want to buy the products listed above you can auto fit the stuff to Genesis, and from there to Genesis 8 male or female.

Don't forget that auto fit works best for tight fitting clothing like shirts and pants, and quite often will mangle the front of dresses.

Have not seen one, but when I was playing with Generation 4 characters in Poser (10 years ago), I think I used to apply V4 poses to K4, so maybe some V4 converters will work.

SY Ultra templates can often help with autofitting dresses.

Here is a link to a thread for a FREE V4 to G8 pose converter. You may also find use in a document called "How to add V4 and M4 to Genesis 8 Auto-Fit" over at DeviantArt by Mekheke on adding your own clones to G8.

There is a post in these forums that shows the same process.

Here i have used a Kid4 pose set with Genesis. There obviously need to have some adjustment but these are out the box.

All the generation 4 models, ie V4, M4 and K4 share the same bone names, and thus poses built for one model can be applied to the others. Naturally some (normally minor) adjustment will be needed due to the different bone lengths, much the same that a G8F pose applied to G8M will need to be adjusted slightly. Since K4 bone lengths are more different from V4 than M4 then likely K4 poses would need more adjustment. For example a hands on hips pose is likely to end up where the hands are slightly away from both hips.

Due to what I have said above, then converters for V4 will work on M4 and K4 poses as well. There is a V4 to G2F pose batch converter available from Zev0, as well as G2F to G3F and G3F to G8F. Using these you can get a V4 pose to work on Genesis 8 (male or female), and likewise a K4 pose from K4 to either Genesis 8. As stated above, the final pose will not look identical, and so will need adjustment.
