Dark Guard has my vote.  I tried to use it in a render but felt it was too much hair for what I needed hehe.  It's definitely thick.

Thank you everyone. I realize what I want is https://www.daz3d.com/jepes-bodyhair-project-78 to start with, then layer the fibre hair products over top of it to give it the 3D lift away from the skin - the Dark Guard and the other ones.

I know those of you who suggested the gorilla, yeti, wolfbeast etc. were being facetious, but my idea was to have the human transition into a monster - so those products are great for the end of the process.

I would suggest https://www.daz3d.com/jepes-roderick-for-diego-8 The strand based body hair comes in sections, has realistic growth patterning and it's very easy to go into 'edit strand based hair' and increase the density if you wish. A trick I use is to start with the character, then zero out the shape and load/dial a shape of my own choosing and apply new materials.
