Is there a semi-easy fix for this?
I got this outfit a few days ago https://www.daz3d.com/crop-jacket-outfit-for-genesis-8-female-s
When I load just the outfit and look close, no issue. But putting it on probably the most petite character I have (Freeda), I get distortion on the upper buttons.
In the promo shots, there's nothing as close, but you see they're fine and the models are not as petite as Freeda.
For now I've simply hidden them, but they export that way as well.

How are they on a default figure? The only way to avoid that kind of distortion in general is through the use of Rigidity - either maps, which help with morph-induced distortion, or rigidi Follow Nodes, which help with posing too.
With some work you can avoid it.
You can separate the buttons as own objects, and attach them with rigid follower nodes.
On a G8F figure, they look fine.
I could try some weight mapping; the Rigid Followers I've no clue.
I export out via FBX and essentially having to do the same thing on the other end when it comes to buttons & necklaces, etc. So it's kinda "pays me now or pays me later". Be nice to do it earlier though.
Rigid Follow Nodes:
Thank ya Catherine. That was a great tutorial.
I did resolve my issue, but in my main app. not DS for now. Very similar approach in many regards. Still needs minor tweeks & surfacing.
