Chihuahua Hell

I am trying to use the Chihuahua for DAZ Dog 8 but it ties up my entire machine.

I have other animals with dForce hair and they render just fine. But the Chihuahua is hogging up so many resources it simply will not render for me or if it does, it takes a really long time.

Is there a setting I can change on the Dog to speed up the render? Do I use just the short hair version and skip the long hair?

Does the Bulldog also have this issue? I am thinking of returning the Chihuahua even though I love it and getting the bulldog instead.

Even the Yeti which is covered with dForce hair from head to toe renders OK.

So anyway, I purchased the Bulldog which also has dForce hair and it renders just fine.

I can use the Bulldog for my scenes, but I will miss the little Chihuahua. It's such a cute dog.

It renders fine for me, but I have a beefier machine. What are your specs?

I have an Alienware desktop with 32 GB ram and 1 TB drive. The graphics card came with it in 2018. It was all the most recent stuff, but I know things change at lightspeed.

You could have tried to lower the hair density.

    OK. Thanks.

I will try it one day. I really love the Chihuahua and the textures.

  • Turn down the subdivision on the Chihuahua, think it started at something like 4, which under all that fur nobody is going to see.

Adjusting the fur settings helps too.

Oh darn! I forgot to check subdivisions.

I actually had the same problem with the Lil' Patch Girl figure. She was originally set to Subdivision 4 and it would not render. I informed DAZ and they updated the figure with subdivision 2 and now it renders just fine. But I could have edited it myself.

I wish I had tried this before I returned the Chihuahua.

The subD seems to be borked up, too. It's it seemingly to "Base", you can't seem to switch it to Base at all, or to the supposed "High definition". Does anyone know how to solve that issue?
