Iray and the ground plane in hdri

edited December 1969 in The Commons

So far, I've been pretty successful in my iray rendering. What I'm looking at now is using hdri environments. I used them extensively in reality/lux and am excited about the ability of iray to render the ground of an hdri image. The issue I'm having is where my G2F and the ground plane intersect. It looks as if she's hovering about 5mm off the ground. No amount of adjusting I can do will correct this.

I'm also looking at the parameters and is there a way to move the model around in the scene without having her located in the dead-center of the ibl?

Ok in the Iray Render Settings > Environment switch Ground from Auto to Manual. The Ground will stay in the same place so you will need to move the objects down or up. What the Auto setting does is to keep the ground under the scene objects, no matter how much to move the objects the ground will always be underneath...so by turning it to Manual will keep the ground in one position allowing you to manually adjust the scene objects.

So the ground plane location settings have no bearing on anything?

I have tried them myself and haven't had much joy.
