The face of one of Keiko's shapes looks like the face of my 7-year-old niece, but being anime, she shouldn't be a child. A lot of anime characters tends to have characteristics younger than his/her supposed true age. So you need verify who will see the image, and if those understand that this is anime. Of course, there is anime with little girls in inappropriate dresses like 12-years-old Mina Tepes in Dance in the Vampire Bund (actually she's a 300-years-old vampire with a little girl body)

She's that ageless girl-woman/woman-girl that is pretty much the standard fare of anime....modern day Hebe.

Really, the question is how old does she look and is the scene appropriate for that - none of these figures have a real age that can be used as the arbiter.

I like to think of her as Aiko's little sister.

She's whatever age you decide to make her. if you want to do a more mature themed image (aka she's in lingerie or even nude), that's fine. If you want to do a more child-like image, that's fine too. Her build is petite, but clearly not a child's build.

It's like Sailor Moon. In the original Japanese version, the characters are only supposed to be 14 or so. But would you have guessed that just looking at the show?

Hell, seeing as how Keiko is pretty much Hitomi 6, she's definitely more of the child-LIKE anime girl. In J-pop, it's fashionable for young females to have that juvenile aesthetic called "moe" (mo-aye).

If the Pro Bundle doesn't come with gens than that should be a clue as to how DAZ views the figure.

Er... I'm not sure who uses "moé" in that sense, but it isn't the Japanese. One example: In Lucky Star, it's the tallest, bustiest, most-mature-looking girl who's described by others in the show as being moé. (She's a bit absent-minded sometimes, but only when it's cute...)

Don't worry - even the Japanese have trouble defining the word, and they coined it.

If I recall correctly, Brigadoon had a character literally called 'Moe' :D It also seemed to me that it refers more to the demeanor of a person and not to their physique. Don't they recruit Mikuru-chan in 'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya' because shes 'moe'? :D

    Yes, and yes.

(And the lead human character in Risky/Safety is also named Moé.)

or if you do render it, don't show it to anyone else.

I suppose it's all about context. With computer generated figures (or hand drawn ones) where you can pick and mix facial features, body shape etc. there's no way of positively defining what age they are. All you can do is consider the overall look, try and make it clear what you are intending and hope that your audience (if you have one) agrees with you.

When Haruhi recruited Mikuru she described her as Moe and also pointed out that Mikuru had bigger boobs than her. Also Mikuru was in the year above them so she was about a year older. This probably means that Moe is more about the overall impression of looks and behaviour than age.

Moe basically refers to a character you'd feel protective of. A lot of the time, this does in fact refer to young characters since we naturally feel more protective towards children. Of course, individuals like Mikuru can also fit into 'moe', in her case because she's very forgiving and accepting, even when she's being exploited.

Because of that though, lots of characters can be considered 'moe' to different people.

Different art styles don't help those of us on the other side of the Pacific...

For example, these two characters are supposed to be the same age. The redhead is the one described earlier in this thread as moé.

(I suppose this is one reason why the original Millennium Preteen Girl has some "race queen" outfits available on Japanese sites - they actually saw her as a petite adult woman, not a 12-year-old girl.)

I read a lot of manga, and it's largely arbitrary and based on the artists styles. The super-young-and-small-girl-is-actually-the-oldest trope is pretty popular. Despite all discussion on the intended age, it's all purely academic. The fact that there is a discussion on the age shows that it's obviously not completely tasteless to throw on the negligee, but you wouldn't see me doing it.

Not necessarily. They're not meant to have them if the character is deliberately cartoonish in style.

Although, Girl 6 apparently has genital materials, who is probably the most cartoonish stylised official figure, yet.

I disagree. Keiko is definitely the toonier girl. In fact, one of Girl 6's selling points is that she's a touch of the classic Girl of the realistic G2F figure.
